“Look, I’m sure if you respect her wishes, she’ll come round.”
“Ok.”
“And Ady…”
“Yeah.”
“Don’t keep getting in touch with her. Really, give her some space to breathe.”
“I will,” I blow out a deep breath.
“Ok man. Well, I’m back at work, so speak to you later.”
“Yeah. Thanks.”
I end the call and rest my head back on my chair, looking up at the ceiling. I get my phone out and make another important call.
“Kyle.” I say.
“Hi Adrien. To what do I owe this early for you, call?”
“Yeah. My fiancée is staying in the apartment in the hotel. I was hoping you’d be able to keep an extra eye on her?”
“Of course. I hear she arrived earlier this morning,” he says, and I hear him typing away.
“Yeah, that sounds about right.”
“Ok, I will do.”
“Thanks Kyle. Just contact me, ok?”
“Will do.”
I end the call and let out a frustrated sigh.
A few hours later,Jenna pops her head through the door with a box of some sort of food.
“Thought you might need some brain food,” she says, putting the box on my desk.
“Thanks.”
“Is everything okay, Adrien? I hear Sara is in Miami. I thought you might have taken that trip with her.”
I look up from my screen, and for the first time I look more closely at Jenna. That’s when I see she looks like she wants to tell me something.
“No. It was a last-minute decision. I hope to join her this weekend.”
“Oh, right.”
“Jenna.” I sit back in my chair. “Is there something you want to tell me?”
“Well. When I was in Sara’s office yesterday dropping some stuff off, she saw Katie, and, well, we talked about that.”
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK.
“What about Katie?”
“Well, she saw her go into the meeting, but I think she was kinda confused. I didn’t know they knew each other. Then I told her she worked here.”
