“No, keep that oxygen mask on. We will deal with all of this. Me and Archer’s family. We’ve got this.”
Archer’s eyes widened, and she narrowed her gaze.
“Yes, I called your mother. Get over it. They will meet you at the hospital. Apparently, this is something you guys do often as a family, because she had a whole system.”
Archer smiled softly, and I looked at my family, the one I was making, and then back at the house that was turning to embers and ashes.
Everything I built was gone, but I would find a way to rebuild.
Somehow.
And with Archer by my side and the family we were making, I figured that maybe, just maybe, we would be okay.
