“Pretty much. Mostly because I want the best when it comes to these windows because I wanted them to last. But apparently I was mistaken.”

Archer frowned, walked up to the glass panes, studied them, and cursed under his breath. “This looks like someone used either a glass cutter or an actual fucking diamond against them, Killian.”

I froze, not liking how my name slid over his lips. Or the fact that he was saying someone had done it on purpose, something that was starting to worry me.

Because this wasn’t the first thing that had broken in my house.

“I don’t know who would do it, it’s just me up here.” Cora barked, and I grinned. “Me and Cora.”

Archer smiled sadly, then looked up at the glass. “I would take some pictures for your insurance company, and hell, maybe call the police.”

I stiffened and walked up to him. “The police?”

“If it’s vandalism, it’s good to know, especially if your neighbors want to sell over here.”

I sighed. “Well, that’s not what I wanted to hear.”

“Our company can do this, by the way,” Archer put in, and I blinked.

“Looking for sales?” I asked, teasing. Where the hell did that teasing note come from?

“Always. Though, right now, we’re a little busy,” Archer added with a laugh.

“And I take it glass work isn’t your area?”

“Honestly, my twin Annabelle would be the best at it. She’s the architect, and between her and my other sister, Paige, they know how to handle nearly everything.”

“Do all of you guys work together?” I asked.

“Yep. One big happy family,” he added, his voice a little strained.

I didn’t want to ask, so I didn’t. Instead, I looked at the glass and took photos.

“I’ll think about the police, but I will take these photos for the insurance company.” I paused, letting out a breath. “Thank you.”

“No problem. And if you are looking for someone, I can ask my family. Or we can do it for you. It’s what we do.”

“I guess I’ll need references.”

Archer laughed at that. “Yeah, we can do that.”

“I mean, if you’re just out here going from house to house offering your services, you’re probably going to need references.”

His blue eyes filled with laughter. “You’re right. Totally right.”

“What are you doing out here anyway?” I asked, surprising myself.

Archer looked at me then, and I ignored those blue eyes. I had to.

“I’m just having a day. Wanted some time to think.”

“Okay.”

“You’re not even going to ask?” Archer asked, then shook his head. “You shouldn’t. It’s kind of boring.”

“I wasn’t going to ask. It’s not my business. And I don’t really care.”

Archer blinked, and I knew that last part had been a lie, and rude, but it was my best defense mechanism to get people to stay the fuck away from me.
