“It’s a big thing for Pamela to have it here.”
Since Clay worked for us and had been in enough of our family squabbles, he knew precisely why it was a big deal. Clay had been introduced to us through our Denver Montgomery branch since he was practically godson to one of my cousins. Clay had been an honorary Montgomery for longer than I had known.
“It is a big deal, and all of the older generations of Montgomerys are putting in their two cents helping, but not being overbearing. Like they want Mom to shine.”
I smiled as I said it, and Clay grinned. “That’s good. So she’s not overwhelmed?”
“Not yet, but we’re still in the planning stages. And it’s my job to help.”
“Let me guess, because you have more free time?” Riggs asked wryly.
I cringed. “Got it in one.”
“That’s got to hurt.” Clay winced.
“It shouldn’t. It’s my own thinking, and I’m over it.”
“Well, that’s a lie,” Clay added.
“Okay, it’s a lie. But I will get over it. And it’s the truth, though, because everybody elseisbusy. We all are. The fact that we’re doing this on a Wednesday afternoon when we all have work early tomorrow tells you just how busy we are.”
“Which is great for Montgomery Builders and Riggs’,” Clay added as he looked at his husband. “However, it does make a social life kind of difficult.”
“When and if I ever date again, I don’t know how I’d fit it in.”
“Again, no joking?” Riggs asked, his hands in the air.
I just shook my head. “I’ll get right back on top, I promise.”
“You’re killing me here,” Riggs growled, before he went to the other side of the bar to help one of his staff. “Seriously, if you need anything, let me know. I don’t know if it would be weird for you to ask your siblings for help even though you know they would do it in a heartbeat.”
“I know. I just don’t want them to think that I can’t handle it. Or that I’m jealous.”
Clay leaned forward. “Or maybe you could just tell them your true feelings, just like you made them do every single time that they were confused or conflicted.”
“I don’t like the fact that you are throwing my own actions and words in my face.” I smiled when I said it, but it was kind of the truth.
“Get over it. It’s what you made me do. Now, Annabelle might have mentioned that there might have been a hot guy that you fell on top of?” Clay hedged.
Riggs popped out from behind him quickly.
“What? Hot guy? You were on top of who? Why do we not have any details?”
I pushed Riggs at Clay, just laughed, and shook my head.
“So, what’s his name? What does he look like? How did he feel pressed up against you? Okay, so tell me anything,” Clay said as I just rolled my eyes.
“His name is Killian.”
“Oh, that’s a good name,” they both said at the same time before they looked at each other, laughed, and promptly kissed.
I sighed, ignoring the jealous feeling again. I needed to get over myself.
Clay waved me on. “Killian. Well? What else?”
“He looks like Chris Hemsworth with a shorter haircut.”
“What? You never said that!” Paige exclaimed as she practically jumped on the bar stool. “What else?”
