“I can help if you want. If you can wait till after I’m done with what I need to do at the other house. If you want help.”
“I love you, Archer. So yes. We should go through some of those boxes together. I want you to know them.”
“I want to know them too.”
I frowned as my eyes began to water, and a scent of smoke hit my nose.
“What the fuck is that?”
And then Cora began to bark as smoke billowed out from under the doorway.
“Holy hell. Is that fire?” Archer asked as we leapt out of bed, and my worst fears began to slam into me.
The house was on fire.
And we were trapped.
