“You brought in cheese. He is the one,” Paige joked, and I scowled at her, grateful that Killian was talking to both Beckett and Benjamin as they quietly grilled him. That meant Killian hadn’t heard that, and as Paige blushed and shook her head, I narrowed my eyes.

Be better, I mouthed at her, and she just shrugged before we all went back to the dining room table, and Mom and Annabelle began setting out the cheeses.

“This will be perfect for our appetizers.”

“You don’t need to eat it right now,” Killian hedged.

“Oh, we will. Cheese doesn’t last long in this family,” my twin teased.

As people started to dive into the goat and Havarti cheeses that Killian brought, the man I was falling for laughed. “I can see that.”

Leif came up to us and grinned. “I didn’t get to meet you yet. Hi, I’m Leif.”

“Are you another Montgomery?” Killian asked, and I knew he was doing the family tree in his head. “I’m sorry. I don’t remember how you’re related.”

Leif just laughed. “I’m their cousin’s kid. So, I guess a second cousin, but sometimes I call them uncles.”

“You look almost Archer’s age,” Killian said. “Sorry. I think I’m losing my mind trying to keep up.”

“I’m not that much younger. There’s a lot of Montgomerys, and we span all ages. Some of my cousins and even my siblings are younger than some of Archer’s nieces and nephews. You get used to it.”

“Apparently, I’m going to have to,” Killian said, and right then and there, I knew I was in trouble.

Because I was trying not to think serious. I was trying not to go beyond the now, just go into the healing of a new relationship.

But with the way that Killian was trying so hard for my family?

I was in trouble.

I was falling in love with Killian Hart.
