“They probably wanted to see what you’re worth and then would either draw you in somehow to take the fall if anything goes wrong, or they would eventually determine you would be more worth by selling you,” Torque answers tightly.

I stiffen. “Selling me?” I whisper, shocked. “They would sell me? Like a damn cow?”

“Yes,” he answers, staring me right in the eyes. “Men like blondes, and men that buy those women want to break you.”

“Oh my God,” I gasp, feeling sick to my stomach. The thought of what could have happened to me if I didn’t find those drugs today is almost too much for my head to handle.

“You’re safe now,” Torque assures me, coming closer and putting his hand on my shoulder. “We won’t let them get to you in any way. We want these assholes gone, and you’ve given us the key to help us get there.”

“What we need is for you to give us every detail you can think of,” Bullet says briskly. “Names, dates, things you think might not have been a big deal at the time, it doesn’t matter. Any information could help us take them down.”

“Why not just go to the cops?” I ask.

“Because the mob will have men on the inside,” Shadow answers. “Cops, security, administration, they’ll have someone at each level to make sure they’re protected. It’s also not our way.”

“We handle things as we see fit. That going to be a problem for you?” Bullet asks me, levelling a hard look in my direction.

In other words, am I going to be the one blabbing and causing problems? I shake my head. “I’m more than happy to stay as far out of it as possible.”

Bullet nods. “Good. We need to make a plan with the club,” he says to Torque and Shadow. “Get ready to deal with this quickly.” He looks back at me. “For now, we need to make sure you’re safe, so we need you to move into the clubhouse where we can make sure you’re protected.”

“The clubhouse?”

“It’s the safest place for you,” Torque assures me. “We have a gate and brothers there at all times to make sure that no one is there that shouldn’t be.”

“Not to mention they’d have to get past Rose, and Syn’s beasts,” Shadow adds with a grin.

I’m confused, but I’m not an idiot. “What about work?”

“You’re not going back there,” Torque says firmly.

I frown at him. “You’re not the boss of me, Torque, in case you’ve forgotten,” I say irritably. “But I can’t not work or I’m going to go stir crazy. Not to mention I have bills to pay.”

“We’ll worry about that after we know you’re safe and they can’t get to you.”

I should argue, but after the information I’ve gotten, I’m better off agreeing and dealing with the aftermath once I figure out my next steps. Hell, I may be going back to Missouri if things really go south. “Fine.” I look back at Bullet. “You sure you have enough room for me?”

“Plenty,” he answers. “We’ll get you set up in a room, though we’ll have to go over a few things.”

“You mean the bunnies or whatever?”

“We call them club girls, but yeah.”

I shrug. “I don’t have a problem with them if they don’t cause problems with me. I don’t do cat fights, and sex between consenting adults isn’t a problem.”

Bullet nods. “Good. Torque, take Izzy to the clubhouse. Izzy, leave your keys and we’ll send someone to get a few of your things. We don’t want you going back to your apartment until we know they’re not watching the place. Where’s her car?” he asks Torque.

“Carson brought it inside and it’s in one of the bays, covered,” Torque answers.

Bullet nods. “Good.” He looks back at me. “Don’t worry, Izzy, you’ll be safe with us.”

“Thank you,” I answer gratefully. “I’m sorry for bringing so much trouble.”

“Trouble that turned out to be just the thing we need,” he says with a smile. He nods at Torque. “I’ll text your mother to let her know you’re on your way.”

“Got it. Come on, Izzy, let’s get going.” I stand and nod at Bullet and Shadow, before following Torque to the garage. “You need anything from your car?” he asks. “Now’s the time to grab it.”

“My lunch pail is in there, but that might be hard to take on your bike.”
