“I know, I know,” I try to say, even as my voice goes tight with the fear trying to choke me. “But I can’t just sit here and act like it’s okay that the mob is after me.”

“You’d be an idiot if you weren’t scared,” Cryos says bluntly. “These guys aren’t playing, and it’s good you’re not overly confident that they won’t get to you. Because that’s when you’ll fuck up and end up dead.”

“Cryos,” Torque barks.

“No, he’s right,” I say calmly, pulling away from Torque. “You’re right, I’m taking this seriously because I don’t want to have them succeed in taking me out. But I can’t sit here and twiddle my thumbs. I’ll go crazy, and then I’ll probably be in here trying to help you and driving you nuts.”

Cryos scowls. “I’ve already had to deal with Sage and her damn meddling, and I’m not doing it again with you.”

“No one is going to touch your precious computers, asshole,” Shadow chuckles.

“Tell that to Sage. She fucks with my shit one more time and I’m giving her to the damn mob on a silver platter, Old Lady or not,” Cryos sniffs.

The guys all roll their eyes and I get the sense this is a common threat.

“You’re going to come to the shop with me and work,” Torque informs me. “This way you’re with me and some of the brothers.”

I arch a brow. “You still have a job for me?”

Torque smirks. “I figured you would come to your senses eventually.”

Bullet snorts. “More like he couldn’t find a single damn person to work for him.”

Torque glares at his father. “Either way,” he continues, looking back at me, “you won’t be sitting around doing nothing and you can help us get caught up.”

“So you’re just using me for free labor, huh?” I ask with an arched brow.

Torque grins. “Well that and I get to see that sexy ass bent over as much as possible, but sure we’ll go with that.”

I roll my eyes as the guys snicker. I’m glad I’ll have something to do, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t really nervous about leaving the clubhouse and going somewhere that I’ll be exposed.
