I narrow my eyes and look around. I take stock of everyone in the room, and quickly notice that we’re also one club girl short. Doesn’t take a genius to put two and two together. I’ll have to mention it to Dad and he can deal with him. We don’t have a lot of rules for the prospects, but club girls are off limits. They’re for fully patched members only, and breaking that rule is enough for us to boot the little dipshit out on his ass.
I look at Kaleb. “You good with manning the bar? You see Pierce, though, you switch out.”
Kaleb nods. “Sure thing.”
“Good. I got some shit to deal with at the shop, and then I’ll be back.” I stop before I get fully away from my seat. “How’d shit go last night? Any problems with your brother?”
Kaleb looks surprised at my question. “Not really. The kid is getting himself mixed in with the wrong crowd and I’m trying to make sure he doesn’t make any mistakes he can’t come back from. It’s small stuff for now, like weed and shit, but that can get out of hand.”
I nod. “You need help, just let me know. How old is he?”
“Just turned eighteen, but I think I got through to him last night. Hopefully that will be the end of it.”
“Hopefully, man,” I agree. “See you around.” I wave to Stone and indicate I’m leaving.
He heads over. “Some of the crew are out working at Mom and Dad’s place, and King and I are going to go over and give them a hand. Need anything just call.”
“I’m heading to the shop to catch up on some paperwork. Be back later.” He nods and then I head for my bike.
Hopefully some time working at the shop without any distractions will help. The shop is one of the few places I’m truly relaxed. As I ride over, my mind turns back to Izzy. With everything going on with the club and the shop, she’s probably right that it’s not a good time for us to act on this chemistry. As hot as she is, the club comes first, and that includes the business that I run.
Still, the urge to have her in my bed is far stronger than I want to admit. How the hell can that be? No woman should be able to completely take over my thoughts this way. Especially not one who could, possibly, be an employee if she ever changes her mind.
That’s something that I can’t lose sight of. I’ve always vowed never to sleep with someone that works for me, and I have no plans on changing that. Hell, the last receptionist we had wouldn’t give up the idea, I definitely don’t want a repeat of that situation. I still remember walking into my office one day to find that she had completely removed everything from my desk, and was lying naked on it, fucking herself with some kind of dildo, thinking it would entice me.
Only real problem with that scenario was that my mother was with me. To say that girl was gone in a hot minute is an understatement. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my mother so angry. I was impressed she was able to get into my office in the first place, and while I did enjoy the show for a minute, any hot blooded man who says they wouldn’t is a liar, but then I realized just how much work I was going to have to do to get my desk back in order.
Still, it’s one for the record books.
By the time I reach the shop, I’m no further ahead in trying to figure anything out. Hell, I’m more confused. Pushing it out of my mind, I go into the office and get to work. As much as I hate office work, I’m grateful for the distraction.
By the time I head back to the clubhouse, it’s closing in on midnight. I stayed longer than I planned, but I’m officially caught up, and ready for the upcoming week. Which is something that I can honestly say rarely happens. Guess something good’s come out of this night.
I walk into the clubhouse and find that everyone is mostly hanging out, except that includes Mom and her coven. The only one I see missing is Alice, and I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. They’re all sitting at the back of the room, laughing and drinking, and I immediately head over to where Shadow is watching them with a scowl and pull out my wallet. “How much is the bail donation this time?”
Shadow smirks. “I’m not about to turn down your money, so whatever you got.”
I roll my eyes and hand him a hundred dollars. “Did we stock their drinks this time?”
“Prospects ran out to get it as soon as Leonora and Raven pulled in. We’re not taking any chances this time.”
“I heard that,” Sage calls out from the table, glaring at us.
“You were supposed to,” Shadow says smoothly as he puts away the money in his back pocket. “Maybe it will keep your asses out of trouble.”
“Not likely,” King says as he makes his way over. He glances at Syn. “Where are your demons?”
“Guarding the house,” she says with a slow grin. “Why? Anxious to see them again?”
“I’m not getting in the damn bite suit,” King snaps at her. “I like my balls right where they are, thank you very much.” Then he glances at Stone, who is making his way towards us, and gives a sly smile. “Maybe you should ask Stone if he can help you out with that.”
“Help out with what?” Stone asks as he reaches us.
“Syn needs help with something at the farm,” Sage says with an beaming smile. “You’re just the guy to help.”
Syn says nothing, but I see the amusement in her eyes before she gives Stone a solemn look and says, “I’d appreciate it.”
Stone narrows his eyes at her. “I’m not going to be a damn chew toy for your dogs.”
