“Right now, Izzy,” Medic adds, “you have no side effects that are showing. As far as I’m concerned, medically, you’re completely healed. You can go back to work, do normal shit, all of it. As a doctor, I need to make sure you are aware of all possibilities. At the same time, if there is anyone who can make a case for what a healthy person can do after something like you’ve experienced, it will be you.”

I nod. “Thank you. I’ll make sure that I tell someone if I start craving stuff. I don’t want to go down that road.

“Good,” Medic says with a smile. “You’ll be fine, Izzy.” He looks at Torque. “You good?”

Torque nods. “Thanks, brother.” Medic nods at Zeb and then heads out, leaving me alone with Torque and Zeb.

I look at Zeb. “Did you two figure out whatever you needed?” I ask, curious, and not wanting to talk anymore about my new possible addiction. I need to process that later when I’m not so upset about it.

Zeb nods. “Looks like I might be coming to see you more often if things work out.”

I smirk. “What, all the ladies up in Missouri finally get tired of your bullshit?” I tease.

“Smartass,” he says with a roll of his eyes.

“You know I’ll love seeing you more,” I say with a smile.

“I don’t know that I will,” Torque says loudly. Zeb flips him off, making him chuckle. “He knows he’s welcome here,” he assures me.

“I figured I would come see you before I head back home,” Zeb says. “My flight leaves in the morning.”

I get out of Torque’s lap and move to hug him tight. “I’ll miss you,” I tell him honestly.

“Of course you will,” he replies cockily, making me roll my eyes. He hugs me tight before letting me go. “Now, how about we go down and you introduce me to all those lovely ladies downstairs.”

Torque scoffs behind us. “Lovely ladies,” he mocks. “Man, you are about to get an education.”

We all head downstairs. Just in time for Rose to come storming out of the kitchen, Bullet right on her heels. “Woman, get your ass back here,” he barks at her.

Rose ignores him, and zeros in on Zeb as soon as he reaches the bottom. “Well, hello again, handsome,” she purrs as she moves towards him.

Zeb grins at her. “You getting yourself into trouble, young lady?” he drawls at her.

Rose preens at the young lady comment and Bullet’s scowl deepens. “Of course not,” she assures Zeb. “I’m an angel, so don’t you listen to any of these assholes and any of the wild stories they tell.”

Loud barks of laughter ring out, making Rose glare around the room. “If you’re an angel then I’m the Pope,” Shadow snickers.

“We are fucking delightful,” Sage butts in, moving to stand beside Rose. “Don’t listen to them, honey,” she says with a smile at Zeb.

“Says the damn jailbird,” Shadow drawls. “You know, for mooning a cop.”

Zeb is staring wide-eyed at the banter, and I look up at Torque. He’s grinning at me and winks. I motion for him to move his head down so I can whisper in his ear, “How about we get out of the line of fire and head upstairs for a little nap? Medic gave us the all clear, and I’m not about to waste it.”

His eyes are heated when he looks at me. “I think that’s the best damn idea I’ve heard all day.” He takes my hand and we start to creep up the steps.

Zeb glances back up over his shoulder at me and glares. I give him a smirk and a wave. He’ll be fine, and he’s in his element. Besides, we won’t be long and I’ll make sure to come down and see him before he leaves.

I want my man and there is no way I’m not having him after the past few days. So I turn and we race up the stairs.
