“Too much too soon, Curly? The lag time in response is kind of worrying me.”
“What? No, no. Just thinking about the weirdness of that word.”
“No freaking out on the idea of me following you anywhere?”
“Well, the idea of you stalking me is kind of unnerving, but since you’re big and well-known, it definitely cuts down on the likelihood of me being abducted and forced to work in a sex ring for the rest of my life, so I guess I could deal with it, Dimples.”
“Stalking, following. Two totally different things. Stalking means I’m unwanted. I’d like to think that you might possibly, maybe if I’m lucky, want me to follow you around. Sometimes, maybe?”
Callie could hear the doubt in Kyle’s voice. She understood why. She had been wary of him since the day they had met. But Kyle had done nothing but be his sweet self, showing her what kind of person he was. And she realized he was nothing like Matt. It was finally time to let him know that.
“I think I could get used to you following me around, Dimples.” She reached over the console and planted a kiss on his cheek. “Like it, even.”
“I’m liking the sound of that, Curly. Could it be that maybe you were feeling a little bit twitterpated, too?”
“I’ll never tell,” she said with a wink. “Now can you hurry up and get me home? If I don’t get in the shower soon my hair will smell like barbeque sauce for a month.”
