Callie: #anyway
Callie: #all
Kyle: Enough with the hashtags!!!!
Callie: Like I was saying, all my other ideas have crashed and burned. But then my advisor suggested that I get someone who would grab the attention of the panel. And I thought of you. So will you?
Kyle: Will I what?
Callie: Let me interview you. On camera. For my senior project #densehead
Kyle: #gasp! But I’m an athlete!
Callie: Don’t make me beg.
Kyle: I would love to do it.
Callie: REALLY?
Kyle: Sure. If it would help you, I’m always going to say yes.
Kyle’s phone stopped pinging. Several minutes went by and Kyle was starting to worry he had pushed too hard. He had just started to put his phone in his pocket when it pinged again. Willing it to be Curly, he looked at the screen and smiled.
Callie: Maybe all athletes aren’t arses. At least one that I know.
Kyle: Arses?
Callie: I’m trying to be a lady and cut down on the swear words.
Kyle: Arses it is. Curly?
Callie: Yeah?
Kyle: Thanks for admitting I’m one of the good guys.
Callie: I never said that.
Kyle: Maybe not. But I know you were thinking it. Your brain waves were coming over the line loud and clear. Even via text you can’t hide your emotions.
Callie: #jerkface
Kyle: #youlikeme
Callie: ;) I’ll never tell.
Kyle grinned. It seemed like Curly might be coming around.
“I’m telling you,Cal, he’s a good one,” Cassie was sitting on the couch, her feet perched on the coffee table, a bowl of cereal in her lap, and an open textbook sitting beside her. “Why won’t you admit it?”
“Fine! I admit it. Happy?”
“Finally! Now if I can just convince you to let him kiss you, all will be right with the world. Those are the most kissable lips I have ever seen, girl. I don’t know how you’ve resisted.”
Truth be told, Callie didn’t either. Kyle was one fine specimen of a man. “Ugh! Why couldn’t God have given him bad acne? Or horrendous B.O.? Something that wasn’t good!”
“Maybe you don’t see anything because you’re meant to be.”
“You are such a love-sick puppy dog. Who raised you? Romeo and Juliet? Because you are a die-hard romantic, my friend.”
