“All right, then Mr. Kelly. You can’t say that I didn’t offer.”
Like I would take Garrett’s sloppy seconds anyway, Kyle thought. “You have a nice night, ma’am.”
“I’d have a better one if I was going into your room with you. But it’s your loss.”
Kyle, not wanting to be a gentleman anymore, simply opened the door and shut it in blondie’s face. There was only one blonde woman he wanted. She simply did not want him back.
“Who answered the door?Of all the nerve! That arrogant ass!” Callie had to grab Aria’s arm before she stormed out the door to no doubt give Kyle a piece of her mind. And probably her fist to his face as well.
“It’s not worth it, Aria. He told me he loved me and I just stared at him like an idiot. I’d probably do the same thing. You can’t blame him.”
“The hell I can! And you most certainly would not go jump in the sack with the first bimbo to lay eyes on you!”
“No, she wouldn’t, but you don’t know Kyle well enough to say how he handles rejection,” Cassie said.
“I’m not excusing him,” she continued, as Callie shot daggers her way. “But he’s hurting. Maybe that was his way, his entirely wrong way, of trying to curb some of that hurt and rejection. Because like it or not, you totally rejected him, Cal.”
“I knew this would happen!” Callie wailed, grabbing the box of tissues off the table between the two beds. “Why did I ever agree to play the ass in that stupid game?”
“I don’t know, baby girl,” Cassie said as Callie put her head in her lap and she started stroking Callie’s hair. “But I know this, too, shall pass.”
“My heart is broken. How am I ever going to get over this?”
“Easy,” Aria chimed in. “Next time you see him you kick him in the balls. As hard as you can. See how he likes to play basketball with no testicles.”
Callie laughed through her tears. “You guys are the greatest friends ever.”
“Amen to that,” Aria agreed. “Now who wants to eat their weight in New York pizza and ice cream?”
