Chapter 9
What Ifs Pt1
Dylan's POV
I stormed out of my room to find something or even someone to hit. I couldn't believe what that text said. What the hell does she mean if I'm not her mate? I growled out loud at the thought of that. She's my mate but she doesn't know it and she wouldn't believe me if I told her because she isn't eighteen yet. She wouldn't feel the sparks, the warmth, the bond. I finally met my mate and I already hate that I could lose her. It's been over five hundred years since a wolf found its mate, yet its mate never felt the bond.I won’t allow that to be the case here. I’d go to war with the gods before I give her up. Being near Katie was intoxicating to me. She did something to me that I never thought possible. I was becoming addicted to merely having her around.
I walked down to the first floor. I saw random pack members and they looked at me in fear. I took it as a good thing because I wasn't one to mess with. I growled at them, and they ran out of the hallway and into a room off to the side slamming the door. Good. I can't stand to be stared at, and more importantly, I'm not in the mood to socialize.I’m in the mood to kick in Katie's door and forcibly take her. The thought of fucking her, no punishing her, was making me hard. Damnit.
I started walking towards the front door to go outside. I needed to take my anger out on something or maybe even someone. I needed to just let it all out. The thoughts with Katie and the fact this damn alpha did that to my father. My growling gets more intense as I open the door and turn to walk out slamming it behind me. Suddenly I slam into someone. We almost knock each other to the ground, and I'm met with fierce growth. I look and it's Alexander the packs Beta. Oh, fuck yes. I smirked getting to my feet. The perfect person to take my anger out on just happened to be here.
"What the fuck are you doing brat!" He screamed at me which made people look out the windows. I looked up and saw Katie rush out and onto her balcony. Her face was a mix of terror and shock. I stared at her when I felt his hands grab me by the collar and throw me to the ground out front of the mansion. I growled and lost control.
"Listen you piece of trash. Don't fucking run into me again!" He snapped, his voice was deep and threatening. I jumped to my feet and snarled at him.
"It was an accident, you fucking idiot." I shouted back at him, and he was not happy. He's a beta and no one can talk to him the way I am without punishment. He growled and charged at me still in human form and snatched me by the throat. I kicked him in the stomach which made him let go and deepened my growl at him. I'm an alpha's son and I refuse to allow a beta to beat me.
"Back off Beta. It was an accident and I'm not in the mood for this bullshit." I snap at him hoping he will take a hint. I could feel more eyes on us and I just didn’t fucking care. He was either going to drop this now and walk off or I was going to take everything out on him.
"You mutt. You don't speak to me that way. You're a rank-less member of this pack. You're lower than dirt, and I don't care where the hell you came from!" He screamed as he ran at me and shifted midair to tackle me to the ground.
I yelled as I crashed to the ground, his wolf form on top of me cutting up my arms as we fell. I shift while under him. I'm bigger than him but I don't know his skills. I pushed him off me and jumped back shifting quickly before he attacked.
He was a grayish silver wolf with green eyes. He stared down and growled at me with all his teeth shown.
I was a rather large black wolf with bright icy blue eyes. I growled at him and made sure to show my teeth to him. I won't underestimate him and I won't lose, I thought to myself. I looked around and people were gathered around us. They knew a fight was breaking out, I'm shocked the alpha wasn't out here at this point. I looked up and saw Katie was gone. Good, she didn’t need to see what I was about to do to her fucking lover.
I feel myself get lost in my thoughts and Alexander took his chance while I was distracted. He lunged for me and bit into my shoulder, his mouth filled with my blood. I yelp and wrestle out of his grip as his teeth tear the flesh on my shoulder. I slightly limped now but I'll heal so I'm not too concerned about this wound. Where did Katie go though? A part of me wanted her to watch me kill him. I was so enraged I wanted to terrify her before forcing myself on her.
As we run at each other, I open my mouth and grab his shoulder while using my weight to push him to the ground. He manages to toss me off him and I slam to the ground. We both growled blood dripping from our teeth. We stood there growling and stared into each other’s eyes as he walked circles around me. He sized me up to try and find the right moment to attack. Suddenly the pack mansion door slammed open, Katie. She ran out to us.
No Katie, stay back please I pleaded to her telepathically, yet she didn’t stop.
I hear him snarl and I look up. Katie was fast even for her human form. She was already between us; however, we weren't extremely far from the mansion doors. Alexander didn't see her. He was midair and his eyes went wide as he saw her between us. He's going to come down right on her. No! I yell to myself as I jump in front of her. We collide slightly still in midair and crash to the ground. She looks terrified.
"Stop!" She shouted at us both as tears fell from her face. Her perfect teal eyes were so bloodshot, and she looked completely out of breath. Did she run down here? We both stood up, blood ran down our shoulders, and looked at her. Alexander shifted back into his human form and ran to her. He still had blood on him which is to be expected. She shoved him away which caused his blood on her hands.
"Alex, how could you?" She stood there and cried as her body was shaking. I can't tell if she shook from fear or anger. I don't bother shifting back. I can't face her. Not after this.Not like this. Something about those teary teal eyes broke me.
She turned to me, her eyes still filled with tears. She went to walk towards me with her hand out as if to touch me. I don't care. I turn from her and bolt into the woods. I don't even want to return. How could I ever face her after what just happened? I ran through the damp muddy woods. It's dark now and so late. The moon was hidden behind clouds on this dreadful night. I push harder to get as far away as possible. I don't know this pack's territory and I don't care. I want to be anywhere else but the mansion. My injuries were leaving a trail of blood behind me. The pain and blood loss was too much for me to stay shifted. I shifted back to my human form and passed out. I'm beyond exhausted and sleep will help me heal. As soon as I hit the dirt at the base of a large pine tree I stopped, I was fast asleep.My body felt heavy and sore from the brief fight. Fuck, I was out of shape.
My mind raced in my sleep. I had nightmares about Katie’s screams and how if I didn't move fast enough, he would have hurt her. I could have lost her. I jumped up from the ground wide awake. It was still dark, and my face was wet from tears that ran down it from my nightmare.
Thankfully, my wounds were healed. I shifted back and headed back towards the mansion.Good, everyone must be asleep. I rushed inside and up to my room. I walked over to the bathroom, I'm a muddy mess with dried blood on me. I turned the shower on as hot as it would go. I didn’t care if the water burned me. The steam filled the bathroom as I got in and relaxed while the water ran off me.Once done in the shower, I threw a towel around me and walked over to my bed. I fell asleep in my towel after I collapsed on my bed
