"Let's make this official. Bring forth your pack and I will call mine." My father commanded Bradley and he obeyed, which was shocking of another alpha to do so easily, but you could see how destroyed Bradley was; an empty shell of the alpha he was as if he had failed his pack completely.
My father telepathically called for the whole pack, summoning them outside as Bradley called his members from the cars. They had maybe twenty wolves total and we had over three hundred. Dylan looked shocked at our pack’s size; I mean, who wouldn't be shocked we are one of the largest packs in the country. This is still why I felt this entire thing was odd of my father to do. We didn’t need twenty new people in the pack. Until today I hadn’t heard of Bradley Steele nor his pack. A secret friend my father had kept hidden away.
"I, Damian Knight, agree to take in your Bradley Steele’s pack through a merger. Contracts have already been signed between us as alphas." My father exclaimed as his satanic-toned voice echoed around the mansion.
"I Bradley Steele surrendered my pack and title to you Damian Knight. We agree to merge into the Dark Silence Pack for the wellbeing of ours." Bradley spoke loud enough that his pack heard him.
Some seemed upset at the merge, but the majority looked thankful. Bradley kneeled before my father followed by Dylan and their whole pack. This was it; we are now all one pack. My father smiled and Bradley stood up followed by Dylan and then the rest.
Suddenly I felt it, the bond of their members as they joined us. It’s a strange warm feeling, the sensation of so many joining our ranks. Sadly, most of them will more than likely be demoted as their former alpha was in such a rush to merge, that he never requested ranks to transfer. At least that’s what I had gathered from my father’s notes. That’s bad on his end and may lead to issues in the future if people are unhappy. Issues that my father won't trouble himself over and will just kill them on the spot.
"Let us go inside. Ranks will be assigned as we discuss the skill level of each member." My father said as he turned to go inside the mansion.
This may not go well but it's too late to back out now, if anything and Bradley declines my father will just kill him. The merger is complete minus the ranks and that doesn’t matter as it was never in the contract from what I read. I turned to follow him with Alexander on my heels, he caught up to me and placed his hand on my lower back as I almost lost my footing due to a hole in the ground. His hand was warm on the small of my back and honestly, I enjoyed it. Maybe I enjoyed it a little too much, he was my father’s beta and decently older than me. I could feel Bradley and his son, Dylan, staring at us as if their gaze burned a hole through us. Bradley and Dylan were following us closely while their pack remained outside and mingled with ours. Rather our new members mingled.
Dylan's POV
I'm not happy about this. I'm twenty-five and I don't need to be married off. It was absolute bullshit he even agreed to this fucking thing anyway. Why was my father so adamant about me being married into this pack and not just surrendering to them? A growl escaped me causing my father to glare at me, he knew I hated this.
I'm not some pawn to be traded as he saw fit and yet, here I am being tossed out there to sweeten the deal on something that could have been avoided. It's low of an alpha to give up their pack. I looked out of the car as we approached the mansion. It's amazing and nothing like the run-down cabins we lived in. It was a white limestone with a black roof and crimson trim and shutters around the windows, the pride of this pack is insanely high. I've only heard stories about this pack and its legendary history.
A pack with a mysterious alpha who climbed to glory and led rogues in the path of making an army. There was so much not known about Damian Knight, rumor has it he sold his soul to the devil. Other rumors say he slaughtered women and children to get his way. Wolves were waiting for us as we came to a stop. I growled hoping this wasn’t an ambush. We aren't prepared for this size of a possible attack; it would end our entire pack without much manpower. I shifted about nervously as I looked out at everyone. Hopefully, the bloodthirsty rumors are false, or this is going to get worse.
"Dylan, he is an old friend, calm down." My father demanded, yet I still wasn't sure and kept my guard up.
I bet he only required a marriage because I don't have a mate and she looked ugly I groaned, a win for both alphas. I mean, how does a legendary pack have a female heir and she still be single? I’ve already decided she had to be the ugliest female around or even a complete bitch, if she wasn’t then she wouldn’t be single. Oh, I hope she isn’t some slut that whores around so bad she can’t keep her damn legs closed long enough to hold a relationship. I rolled my eyes at the mere thought of having to deal with someone like that.
My father got out and I heard him talk but I didn’t pay any attention, I don't even want to be here in the slightest so why should I care what is said and what isn’t. Nothing will ever make me think this is not complete bullshit. That is until he calls my name, I sigh and adjust my clothes looking at the open door of the car. I step out of the car; the sun is so bright it hurts my eyes for a moment until they can adjust. I look around and this place truly is massive, wolves are everywhere in both their human forms and wolf forms as if they didn't trust us not to attack. Bizarre seeing as this pack is so massive but I guess it saves time in an attack. Maybe the fact their heir is upfront has them on edge.
I walked up to my father and the other alpha as they stood across from each other. Damian Knight, the most feared alpha around and looks terrifying as hell as if he would kill us in the blink of an eye with no remorse. Then I see her, and my heart starts racing, she has beautiful, lush long blond hair and pale white skin. It was as if the sun itself avoided her. She was wearing a stunning black dress with crimson floral designs. Her vibrant teal eyes are so breathtaking they steal the show, but I don't see her mark. This must be a joke, she's no heir, yet my heart is pounding as if I've seen the love of my life.
Could she possibly be my mate? The wolf locked away inside me was going crazy at the mere sight of her. It didn’t help that she called me stunning, making me want her even more. She doesn't appear to be an heir, it's as if my father was conned into this merger with the promise of marriage, yet the bride-to-be is some run-of-the-mill member.
I growl, pissed that we were lied to, and snapped at the alpha before me and my father,
You have got to be fucking kidding me. This well-known pack had the fucking balls to bring forth someone other than their heir, disgusting. I can’t believe my father fell for this. I knew a merger with them was too good to be true, they just wanted to use us. Steal our land and do as they pleased. All of this while not having to worry about a small pack in their way in the slightest. Fuck them.
Before I was able to let some anger out and cause a fight their alpha made it known exactly who she was. She was the heir just not of age yet, great. Yet something about her was drawing me in like a moth to a flame. I’ve never been more intrigued by a person before. The merging of packs began between the alphas, and I zoned out staring at her.
It’s so hard not to look at her beautiful figure, she has curves in all the right places. I let my mind wander as I saw her blush even more. Oh shit. I must be losing control of myself, how could I just let myself telepathically tell her that.
She's extremely stunning but at the same time the strange feelings I have for her can only mean one thing, she's my mate. Fated mates always know right away as their wolf’s call to each other. That’s the only thing I can guess about how I feel about her. Love at first sight with my fated mate. She was driving me mad just standing there and I want her alone now. This is even more disappointing since she won't know until she turns eighteen at the earliest. This was the downfall of being fated mates, you must be of sexual maturity, eighteen, to feel the mate bond.
I sigh and they finish the brief exchange. I notice my new alpha going towards the pack mansion, this is awkward having to refer to anyone other than my father as the alpha. Katie and some unknown to me male head back, as well, which left me and my father to follow them. As we approached the door she trips in a small hole and that male placed his hand on her lower back to help her. The way he looked at her had my blood boiling inside and my father could tell. Was there something between these two and if so, why is she being married off? I stare at them with the urge to rip the male next to her apart. My father, surprisingly, had the same look I did.We walked up the marble stairs and through the black front doors entering the mansion.
