Chapter 8

Katies POV

I sat there and wondered if he would reply to my text. It had been about twenty minutes now. I know I can be awkward to talk to as I don’t have a lot of experience socially so maybe texting would go over better. I had changed from my dress into some black fuzzy pajamas. Plopped down on my bed and just relaxed. Suddenly, my phone went off.

Dylan: Hey :)

Oh, I guess he did reply. He added a smiley face though, what a dork I laughed. I wonder if I can talk him into playing a game with me to get to know each other.

Katie: Let's play a game I hear people talk about called 20 questions. You go first.

Dylan: What is something you've always wanted to do?

Katie: I’d like to go out alone but that will never be allowed.

I sighed. I need a break from my father and Alexander and sadly my room is the only break I get. Getting to go out and roam around aimlessly with a fresh cool breeze on my face would be perfect. I had dreamt of getting to have a normal life and yet that would never be possible.

Dylan: I've always wanted to jump off a cliff into a lake.

Katie: Cliff diving sounds like it would be an adrenaline rush. What's your favorite color?

Dylan: Teal. Not a joke either, Katie. That’s why I get so lost when I look at you.

That explains it, my eyes are his favorite color.

Katie: Mine is a light crystal blue.

Dylan: Name one of your favorite books.

Katie: I don't have a favorite book per say however I love the twisted Disney books.

Dylan: They sound interesting. Maybe I should read one.

Katie: So, you said you like music. What's a song you like?

Dylan: I enjoy listening to sad songs. They have deep meaning, and I enjoy it. One that is currently stuck in my head is Hard Sometimes by Ruel.

I would have never expected him to be into sad music at all. He comes off as someone who listens to rock or even rap music instead of sad music. Maybe his possessive bad boy act I’ve picked up on was simply that, an act.

Katie: I've never heard of that, but I have Kodaline's All I Want stuck in my head.

Dylan: That's an amazing song. So how do you feel about this merger?

Why did he have to ask me that? I absolutely hate this merger.

Katie: Honestly, I don't know how to feel. I just hope it's the right thing to do for both packs' sake.

Dylan: I agree with you. However, even if we don't marry, the packs aremerged. Nothing can change that now. I'm shocked my father allowed the merge to happen without the wedding first.

Katie: My father can be...persuasive to say the least.

I knew my father and I wouldn’t put it past him to threaten Dylan’s father into submission over this merger. Hell, he would have simply told him if he declined father would kill them off. It was clear neither I nor Dylan knew what truly caused our fathers to agree to the terms they did.

Katie: Do you know how to cook?

Dylan: Of course, I can cook what I look like.

Katie: Honestly, I would have figured you couldn't. You don't look like the cooking type. I however love to cook.
