He chuckled. “Och, no.”

Nia looked at the height of her ceiling. She couldn’t fathom how big Shaw would be in his dragon form, but she really wanted to see him. “What color is Con?”

“Gold. The Golds and Silvers, like Ulrik, are the largest of our species.”

“The smallest were the Pinks.”

“That’s right,” he said, surprise in his voice. “You remembered.”

She glanced up at him. “Of course.”

“We thought the Pinks dead since they had been hunted on Earth, but some of the eggs were brought to Zora. There are Pinks again. It makes me smile every time I see one of them flying.”

Nia tried to picture dragons flying, putting colors to different-sized ones, but she couldn’t envision it. She had little knowledge of dragon shapes, sizes, or hues. It just wasn’t something she had seen in Stonemore—until recently.

How would it be to see the dragons, to hear their roars all around her? Since she knew that Shaw would protect her, she wasn’t as afraid as she had been when Cullen had flown over the city. Her thoughts took her in another direction.

“If Eurwen and Brandr are rulers here, what color are they?”

“A mix. It’s no’ something that was done before. Everyone mated within their clans. With the twins being half-Fae, they each took part of Con’s gold color. Eurwen is peach with gold wings. Brandr is gold, but his underside fades to beige. They are no’ the only multi-colored dragons now, either. The clans are gone. The dragons now mingle where and with whoever they want.”

That made Nia’s head hurt, trying to envision the mixing and matching of different colors. She would just have to wait and see it for herself. “Does that upset you or the other Kings?”

“It doesna me. And I’ve no’ heard anyone else say anything about it.”

She tapped her finger on his stomach. “I’m still confused about how Eurwen is a Queen if there were none before.”

“It’s because of her parents and the power they gave her. She isna the only Queen. There’s also Melisse, who was the very first part-dragon, part-Fae.”

“So, there can be Queens?”

He laughed, the sound bouncing off the walls. “Aye, lass.”

Her smile died as she thought about what Shaw would tell everyone about her. She had never given any thought to how others saw her, but now, it mattered. She didn’t like the anxiety that caused, or the fear that came along with it.

“You’ll get to meet everyone and see everything,” Shaw said.

She blinked against the tears that suddenly pricked her eyes. “I hope so.”

“I can take you away right now. Just say the word.”

Her heart melted even more. “Not yet. We’ve work to do. Speaking of which, that brings me back to my original question. How long before I tell the Divine that you’ve fallen in love with me?”

Shaw was quiet for a long time. She was beginning to think he wouldn’t answer when his voice reached her. “With as much time as we’ll spend together, I’d say about a week. If we do it sooner, he might question things. We’ll only have one shot at this.”

“We’ll have to make sure we appear in love when we’re seen together.”

“Aye. Thankfully, that willna be hard with you.”

She heard the smile in his voice but couldn’t quite muster her own. Mostly because she’d scared herself with her daydream. She would be living with Shaw, acting as if she were in love. What frightened her the most was that she might find herself actually falling for him.

“I promise to make it enjoyable,” he murmured as he rolled her onto her back and nuzzled her neck in the spot that always drove her wild.

She wrapped her arms around his neck and closed her eyes. The feel of his lips on her skin, his hard body against hers, was seductive. She had set out to charm him, but he was the one who had seduced her. What would she do when he was gone? How would she ever be able to take anyone else to her bed? She wouldn’t. She was certain of that.

Falling? Are you sure you don’t already love him?

The thing was, Nia didn’t know. Shaw was like a raging fire, and she a bug, unable to turn away from the beguiling, enticing flame—or the tantalizing promise of untold pleasure.

“I’ll fill your hours with this,” Shaw said as he kissed down her neck and wrapped his lips around her nipple.

Nia arched her back as he pulled. She sank her nails into his back, her body already clenching and ready. It knew what awaited. He’d given her a taste of pleasure, and she was starved for it now. Greedy and ravenous, she couldn’t get enough of him.

He rose and looked at her with eyes darkened by desire. “I’m going to make you scream.”

A thrill went through her. She reached to bring his head back down for another kiss, but he flipped her onto her stomach and lifted her hips. He slid inside her from behind. A gasp fell from her lips. She looked over her shoulder at him. His jaw was clenched, his face tight as his hands gripped her hips and held her still as he began to move.

The sight of him made her entire body weak. Scream? She screamed every time he made her orgasm.
