She shot him a tired look.
“Think in the millions.”
Nia stumbled back, shock making her face go slack. “H-how?”
“Dragon Kings are essentially immortal.”
She stared at him numbly.
Shaw had to admit that he could’ve handled that better. He didn’t want Nia afraid of him. For someone who had been told that dragons and magic were to be feared, she hadn’t shown him a single ounce of it. “Let’s stay out here a wee bit longer. I’ll tell you anything you want to know about me.”
“Anything?” she asked hesitantly.
He nodded. “Aye.”
“Even why the dragons left your world?”
Shaw briefly closed his eyes. “Even that.”
Nia wavered as she bit her lip. She glanced toward the city, then faced him with determination. “Tell me everything.”
