“Watch your family and friends, your clan, leave when the dragons were sent from your world to ours? You lost everyone. Potentially forever. I’m losing one person who has a good chance of returning.”
He ran his hands up and down her back. “We did it to keep the dragons safe. It was a difficult decision, and every King suffered tremendously. Some still suffer because of that decision. Jenefer is strong. If anyone can find the Amazons and get them to return, it’s her. She’s stubborn as hell.”
Tamlyn chuckled and then sniffed. “What if she doesn’t return?”
“Doona think about that now. Stay positive. If no’ for yourself, then for Sian.”
“Oh, Sian. This has to be killing her.”
Cullen glanced at the entrance to the city. “She’s strong. She’ll find a way to keep going.”
“We need to watch her for a while. Sian is strong, but she’s also fragile. Does that make sense?”
“Love often does that to people. Her heart will hurt until Jenefer returns. Until then, all we can do is be there for her.”
Tamlyn sniffed and leaned back to look at him. “Have I told you how wise you are?”
“No’ nearly enough,” he replied with a grin.
She leaned forward and kissed him. “Thank you.”
He pulled her against him once more and kissed the top of her head. “Everything is going to work out.”
One way or another, he would make sure of it.
All the Kings would.
