“Assaulted?” Bohnes asks, and then he tilts his head to the side, and I see his pupils blowing up like he’s on some seriously hard drugs. That, or like, he’s about to go berserker on some rich boys. “How so? Explain.”

I lift up both hands, palms out, and shake my head.

“No worries about that: Ash already went full yandere on the guy.” I glance his way to find him frowning dramatically at me.

“Yandere desu ne?” he murmurs, reaching up to rub at his chin. A smile stretches across his mouth, one that dies almost as soon as it arrives. Then he’s frowning all over again and giving Widow a dark look.

As my eyes lock with his amber ones, he reaches up and shoves his knuckles across the blood trickling from the corner of his lips.

“What the fuck is a yandere?” Bohnes inquires, but I’m moving closer to Widow and putting my hands on either side of his face. He lets me touch him, reaching up to lay hot hands over mine.

Shit.

When did his looks get this intense? I must truly have a magic pussy, eh? Or maybe all these fuckboys are just hanging around in the hopes of carving a piece of my bloody, black heart?

“A yandere is a person who acts all nice and shit, but then goes psycho and violent when it comes to their romantic interest.” I tap the side of Widow’s cheek and he pulls my hand down. “I hear they sent security after you?”

“Seven guards,” Widow explains, shrugging those huge shoulders of his. “I got rid of them. I was on my way to find you.” His eyes narrow to slits as Bohnes and Ash crowd up on either side of us. “What happened?”

I roll my own eyes and go to pull away from him, but he locks my hands in place on his chest, and I realize that neither Bohnes nor Ash is going to help me now.

Great.

Did I say I wanted the boys to become a unit? I lied.

“What else? Chet Jr. Cody Archer went all rape-y on me, and Ash-pen shoved him down the stairs. Kelly here says he can deal with the security footage, and we can pretend like Cody fell down them. What about the security guards?”

“I beat the crap out of them and ran; they think I jumped the gate.” Widow shrugs again and offers Ash up a look. “Think you can grease them up? You seem to enjoy throwing money around. Seeing as it’s your only talent, why don’t you take care of that?”

Ash just stares back at Widow, arms crossed over his chest.

“He touched you?” Bohnes inquires, and I sigh, turning to look his way. “How? Where?”

I explain with as little detail as possible and pull back from Widow, ignoring the strange, itchy feeling on the back of my neck that says I’m being watched by three very dangerous, very capable young men.

If we had more time … I glance casually over my shoulder to see the three of them watching me.

“I need to get down to the track. Kelly, come kiss me goodbye.” I turn away and continue down the hallway, but not before throwing another look over my shoulder. “Widow, give him permission to fuck me.”

Widow’s eyes go wide, and I think that under different circumstances, Bohnes would’ve laughed. As it stands, he’s staring at the floor in a very intense and disturbing sort of way.

There’s a long pause there.

“No.” Widow sounds shocked that I’d even dare to ask. “Absolutely not.”

“Adrian …” I warn, and he bares his teeth at me. “I stood up to Bohnes for you.”

The man in question raises his head to stare at me, but he’s not upset—with me. I’d almost feel sorry for Chet Jr. if he hadn’t groped me and said all those horrible things about Lemon. Horrible things that are probably true. Oh God. How much more of this can I take?

“You know what? Go. Do it. Fuck each other in public at a racetrack owned by rich people. I’ll just be waiting around to clean the mess up after.” He turns away and stalks down the hallway. After a brief moment, Bohnes follows him.

See? They make a nice team.

I head out a back door to where an entirely different Shelby is parked. Right. What was it that Widow was saying about rich people and fungible things? This isn’t a Cobra however, it’s a Shelby GT500 Fastback in blue.

I see what Ash did there.

I can’t help but look at it and think about Evelyn, about Aspen, about Lemon.

“Do you ever get the urge to just shove this car off the edge of a very steep cliff?”

“I would,” Ash begins, moving up to stand beside me, his hands tucked into the pockets of his slacks. He turns that remarkably gorgeous stare my way, studying me with eyes like black holes. I feel sucked in every time he stares at me, like I’m being crushed in some interdimensional vortex. “If I hadn’t already done that a time or two.”
