She suddenly sat up. “Let’s go shopping.”

“What? Why?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know. I’m bored. I thought it would be enough to hang out at the beach all day for weeks. Turns out, it’s not. I want to do something. Tony is off with the guys. The other ladies are by the pool. What about one of those dolphin boat tour things? Anything. I’m bored!”

“You know, I told you this would happen,” I said. “You kept saying you wanted to do nothing but relax the week before your wedding. I warned you, you would be bored in two days. You made it to day three.”

She laughed and pulled at my hand. “Come play with me,” she whined. “Entertain me. I heard it might rain tomorrow.”

“Really?”

She nodded. “A couple employees said they were on alert for a tropical storm or something.”

“That’s alarming.”

“They didn’t sound concerned,” she said. “They said they had to get the umbrellas and chairs off the beach.”

I sighed and sat up. Norah was not a lounger. She could lounge for a couple of days, but then she got itchy and wanted to go. I was certain it was because she didn’t have a fulltime job. She didn’t spend forty to sixty hours a week working. Relaxing to her was a part of her daily life.

“Fine,” I said. “Let’s go talk to the concierge and see what we can do.”

“Thank you,” she said. “I love you.”

“You better. I was just getting to the good part in my book.”

“Play your cards right with Ryan, and you won’t need to read about the good parts,” she said. “You can live the good parts.”
