A smile splits my mouth. I haven’t been back to Boston since my sister died. But Bono and his older brother Keane were two of the cousins I actually liked.

Still, I gotta ask. “How did you find me, and why are you calling?”

“I’ll begin with the second question,” he answers. “I spotted a Polaroid of you in someone’s things, along with a few other bikers. Do you know a Stephanie Malloy? Though, I’m not sure if Malloy is her real last name….”

I still. No, that isn’t her real last name, if his Stephanie is the one I’m thinking about.

“Is she weirdly pretty?” I ask. “At least half-black, Asian eyes, real thin—looks like she should be modeling or something?”

“Hmm, I guess you could describe her that way. She’s not glamorous. She wears a lot of hoodies, but she still gets hit on pretty consistently. It’s actually become a problem for her at her job. But yes, that sounds like her. She’s ah…very important to someone very close to me. However, I know she’s keeping secrets, and I was hoping to find out what they are.”

Hyena is in the window now, his face questioning. He’s always had a sixth sense when it’s time for a mission. I crook my hand, waving him forward.

“Finnegan?” Bono’s saying on the other side of the line. “Finnegan?” Do you know the woman I’m talking about? If so, I have some ques—”

I hang up on him and immediately pull out my Reaper business phone and call Hades.

I can hit Bono back when I set down in Boston in a few hours. But this other call can’t wait.

“Vampire. How goes it?” Hades lightly Cajun-accented voice comes on the line just as Hyena reaches me and mouths, What’s going on?

I tell him the news at the same time I tell Hades. “Persy. We found her.”
