No continuation.
I’d just let him kiss me stupid because he wanted to.
Because I’d wanted him to.
Stupid me.
My phone buzzed with a call. Shit, it must be Abigail. I was so late.
I tore it from my courier bag and answered before checking the caller ID. “Hello?”
There was silence from the other line.
“Hello?”
Nothing.
I was about to hang up when he finally spoke.
“This okay?” His voice sounded strained. Almost tender.
I was close to falling down on my knees in the middle of the street.
I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. “Yes. How did you get my number?”
I’d left that section blank on his patient intake form on purpose.
“That class contact sheet. I found it after you left.”
He was lying.
There was no such thing.
However Tate had gotten my number, he’d had to work for it. This made me smile. Along with the fact that he remembered my words from the day we’d cleared Kellan’s room.
“A penny for your thoughts,” I whispered to him, my voice still smoky.
“I would like to see more of you and less of your clothes. A penny for yours.”
I want to kiss you hard. To let you rip me to shreds with your hands and tongue and words. I want to tell you the whole entire truth and hold you while you come to terms with it.
Instead, I let my right leg rock as I sighed.
“I’m thinking I should move before I get in trouble for being late. Goodbye, Tate.”
I felt like a criminal who had committed the deed after weeks of preparation.
From the moment I first saw Charlotte Richards, I’d wanted to kiss her.
I finally had, and the world didn’t end. The NYPD didn’t come knocking on my door with an arrest warrant for stalking. Satan didn’t take the elevator up to Earth and hand me my passport to Hell.
I kissed her, and the world didn’t end.
I kissed her, and I didn’t even feel half as guilty as I should.
I kissed her, and soon, if it were up to me, I would do much more than kiss her.
If books were men, they would be the player who dated all the Jessicas in the tri-state area, cheated on you with your best friend, and dumped you for your sister through a text message.
