He shut me up with a kiss as he rolled his hips between my legs. I let out an involuntary groan.

“When’s your lunch break over?” he asked.

What?

I pulled away, tilting my head. “How do you know?”

“I asked Reagan when I stopped by her exam room.”

This was why he came here.

Duh.

“Why did she tell you?”

“Because she worships the ground I walk upon. And because she thinks I’m supposed to give you something personal I made up months ago. So? What time?”

I barely suppressed my laugh.

This man was unbelievable.

I shook my head. “Probably in ten minutes or so. Two-ish.”

“Fuck.” His forehead dropped to mine. He stole another kiss. He really did drop the F-bomb way more than any other doctor I knew did. “You should go before I fuck you between science and fiction.”

I nodded.

I didn’t ask for his number. Not this time. I was actually proud of myself as he lowered me to my feet, and I collected the courier bag I’d dropped sometime during us exploding on one another like two shooting stars.

“You should ask them for that donation certificate,” I said.

I didn’t dare rub my lips, even though they felt all tender, swollen, and tingly from our kisses. His taste was still in my mouth, and I doubted I’d eat anything today.

He bit his inner cheek, nodding. I noticed he still didn’t look ruffled.

Just like with the blonde in his office. He was basically incapable of letting go.

I turned around and started walking away.

Ask for my number.

Ask for my number.

Ask for my number.

With each step I took, a heavy stone settled in my stomach.

One stone.

Two.

Three.

Four…

By the time I got down the stairs and through the entrance, there were maybe eighteen of them.

No phone number.
