“Thank you for your honesty,” I said, but he already knew that I wasn’t going to spend the night with him after that. I just needed a minute. No, he didn’t sleep with her, and that was what was most important. But he did drive over there in the first place and that pissed me off.

His confession of fear from last night echoed in my head. I knew that he was being fully honest with me, that by confronting his fears about falling for me by going to see Violet, he was taking a positive step forward in self-growth.

Still, I was annoyed.

“Grace,” Hex began, but I moved up the stairs and went into our bedroom, resting my ass against the door. A short while later, I heard Hex retreat to his own room. I turned around and reached for the knob, intending on opening it and peeking out.

Instead, the door opened from the other side and Argent was suddenly right there.

He grabbed my wrist and yanked me into the hallway, turning me around and taking my hands so that he could press my palms to the wall.

“I’m going to fuck you and make you scream my name,” he murmured against my ear, and I thanked the goddess for letting us have such easy soundproofing spells; the kids wouldn’t hear a thing. But Hex would. Because the room he’d chosen to stay in had only ever been used for storage; it didn’t have a soundproofing charm on the inside of the door. “Maybe once he hears it a couple of times, he’ll understand how badly he messed up?”

“Argent,” I murmured, but he was already rucking my dress up my hips and cupping my ass with both of his silver hands. His light glimmered from behind me, creating a shadow on the wall that looked as if it were looming above us both.

“If he can’t handle this, he can’t handle our family,” he purred out, biting my ear and making my back arch even more as I pressed into the warmth of his palms. “Because this is something he’s going to be listening to on a regular basis. After all, I am your first wife.”

I snorted at that, but then Argent was grabbing my panties and pushing them side. He was rough about it, shoving the fabric away and not bothering to take them off. The head of his cock was slick with pre-ejac as he rubbed it against my folds.

“Such a terrible spouse you are, making me listen to your moans as Caine fucked you with his tongue.” Vines slithered down the wall, creeping out from beneath the crown molding and wrapping my wrists tight. In place of Argent’s warm grip, they wrapped my wrists and held me up, hefting me just a bit higher so that I was standing on my tiptoes.

“You faerie bastard,” I grumbled, but I liked it. Argent and I played games in the bedroom, usually with magic involved. This was not outside the norm, but this time, his motivations were fueled as much by jealousy as by passion.

Argent knew that; I knew that.

But I wasn’t going to stop him.

“Relax, Grace,” Argent purred, the sound as menacing as it was comforting. My husband—or First Wife, as you please—was angry. He was angry that Monster was here, in our home, around us and our children. He was furious that we needed his help. Mostly, I believe, he was devastated by my reaction to all of it.

Because I didn’t hate the man as much as I should. I said I did, but …

“You owe me for that dream sex fiasco.” The vines tightened even further, lifting me so that I really was balanced on my toes. Not that it mattered. More vines appeared, wrapping my ankles and pulling my legs apart so that I really was truly suspended in the air with my wrists trapped against the wall. “He owes me for it.”

And there was the truth of the matter: this was not just about Hex.

Argent allowed one of his vines to take over the hold on my panties, curling around the fabric and keeping it yanked aside so that he could gaze on my bare cunt. I couldn’t see him, obviously, with my cheek pressed to the wall, but I could fucking feel it.

The sidhe were notorious for their hot and cold tempers—fire one minute, ice the next. If I didn’t know and trust my husband as well as I did, I might be afraid. As things stood, I was wet and throbbing and wishing that he would touch me even as I was nervous as to what Hex’s reaction might be.

Because, as Argent clearly wanted, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from calling his name; we both knew that oh so well.

One of Argent’s vines—created by his magic and scented with his unique lilac and ginger smell—pressed questioningly against my lips.
