I grimaced.
“I can go through all of them, it might take me a minute. Cynic’s sister is with Rage, the last time we went out for an official wedding it was one of the guys working at Platinum’s. Hunk? No, it’s Punc, yeah, but he is a hunk - don’t tell Block I said that. Their wedding was a damn good time.”
“Fine. But, seriously, you can’t tell Mom because even if she doesn’t lose her mind, she’ll tell Dad.”
“Mickayla, I’d never betray your confidence.”
“Even with Uncle Block? Because same rules apply - he’ll tell Dad. Assuming he doesn’t lose his shit and get on his bike.”
She sighed. “I meant it when I told you years ago that you could call me with anything, so you have my word, I won’t tell anyone. I still need to know who it is because I can only think of men who all have ol’ ladies and last I knew they were very committed to their women.”
“It’s Tundra. He works at Platinum’s with Punc - which is another reason Dad will lose his shit.”
She made a noncommittal sound. “You’re probably right about that.” She paused. “Actually, maybe not. I don’t know much about Tundra.”
I nodded. “The thing is, my friend London wanted me to make sure he’s not having a midlife crisis. My situation kind of reminds me of you and Block, and I thought you’d have some insight.”
That got me a dry chuckle. “I’m not seeing any similarities here, honeybunch. Block didn’t like me on sight. I figured he had a chip on his shoulder, and for some bizarre-o reason it made me go out of my way to be sexy as fuck at a Fourth of July party. We had words, he dragged me to his room, and I left him dead-to-the-world satisfied.”
“TMI,” I cried.
She laughed. “Don’t come to me for girl-talk if you can’t hack it, and really, Mick, you can hack it. Anyway, he lost his mind that I’d left him like that and he hunted me down later. This doesn’t sound like that.”
No, it didn’t.
I filled her in on how Tundra and I had grown close even though he was living with a woman.
“That’s the part that had me feeling like a royal bitch,” I said.
“Don’t put that on yourself. If she gave a damn about him, she’d have been there with him - at least once. The fact she cheated isn’t on you, either.”
“Right, well, I made the mistake of maybe over-sharing that I wanted to be with him at his room in the clubhouse even if we both know that would explode in our faces.”
“Why? Because of your brothers and Gamble?”
“Well, yeah. Ryan is so judgmental about younger women with older men. Even though Lark knows about us—”
“How does he know and none of the others do?”
I filled her in about the security footage.
“Okay, proceed, even though Lark’s in the know, what?”
“The club could pull the funding for the bar and grille or because they’re investing they might push me out.”
“If you care about this man the way it sounds like you do, that’s no reason to hide.”
“Tundra thinks they’ll strip his patch - the one tattooed on his back.”
“I understood. That’s out of your hands whether it’s a club vote or just the officers. But Loverboy is gonna lose his fuckin’ mind when he finds out about this.”
I tilted my head back. “Do not call Dad ‘Loverboy!’”
She laughed. “You’re gonna have to get used to that and a whole lot more if you want to be part of the fold, Mickayla.”
Shit. She was right.
“Right, but back to my first question…”
