His lips tipped up. “No need to check me for a fever, woman. I’m gonna eat like a stuck pig in two days, so now I’m cutting down on the calories.”

“Nonsense,” I scoffed. “But I’ll get that in for you.”

After Tundra finished his salad, I grabbed his empty bowl. “Do you like it undressed?”

At the mischievous gleam in his eyes, I regretted my words instantly. “I like lots of things undressed.”

I suppressed my smile. “I’m sure you do.”

“Why are you sure?”

“You’re a man. You like nudity.”

“Are you saying you like being dressed?” His voice was lower and huskier than I’d ever heard it before.

We weren’t talking about salads any more.

“If the circumstances are right, being dressed can be more fun.” I tilted my head. “Enhances the flavor, and makes for a more satisfying experience.”

Tundra’s eyes held mine for a loaded beat. He turned his head and huffed out a chuckle. “I’ll just bet.”

“It’s seven-thirty. You want your check?”

He sighed. “Guess I should.”

It almost felt like before our blow up. Maybe in a few more weeks we’d be back to normal.

Chapter 2

Flat Screen

Tundra

I couldn’t get Mickayla’s voice out of my head. Do you like it undressed?

An image of her undressed and at my mercy filled my mind.

That simple question highlighted my total jackass status because I was doing everyone wrong. Sarah, Mickayla, and myself.

Sarah and I lived together. We hadn’t had sex in two months, and she hadn’t kissed me in over a week. It was more like we were roommates, especially since she refused my advances five times this past week.

Even if Sarah weren’t in the picture, spending time around Mickayla wasn’t right. She was too young for me. The way she looked at me and went out of her way to talk to me signaled she wanted more, but I couldn’t go there with her. She was off-limits, being Gamble’s daughter. Not to mention Nickel and Ricochet’s sister.

Hell, I had to be imagining that she wanted me. Even if she did, I’d be a one-time experience for her and nothing more. No, I couldn’t give her that. She’d have to fantasize about it.

Or find someone else.

That idea made me ill. Last September, I’d told her to get a man who could sort her shit and those words tasted like dirt. I despised the idea of her getting any man. My temper had been off the charts from the moment a prospect interrupted church to say that Mickayla had driven out of the compound with Ivy and another woman. Running out while all the brothers were tied up, I knew she was driving to the farmhouse where Nickel and Ivy had been kept. Instinct screamed at me that she was headed into danger. I’d lost my mind and rushed to my bike the second Volt’s gavel hit the table to adjourn the meeting.

Most women couldn’t handle my temper, but she gave it back to me in spades. I’d never been so furious with a woman before. It took time for us to recover from that. We were close to burying it, but I hated the stilted small talk and bullshit between us.

As I rode back to the apartment, it struck me that Sarah never pushed back with me. At best, she’d stay quiet about our disagreements. Then I either got over my temper, or I gave in and let her have her way.

Last week, I hauled my flat screen out of our bedroom and moved it into my room at the clubhouse.

Sarah didn’t flinch. Instead, she took it the wrong way.

“I knew you’d come around to no tech in our bedroom.”
