He tipped his head to the side. “One tradition in my family is tinsel on the Christmas tree. Your tree is great, but it needs the pizazz of some silver tinsel.”
I blinked before I laughed. “Does tinsel even come in any other color? Don’t answer that. I need to know, have you taken down the tinsel after Christmas?”
He stayed silent.
I gave a knowing nod. “There are two kinds of people, Tundra. Tinsel lovers, and those of us who’ve taken it off the tree. It’s a massive pain in the neck. What other traditions do you have?”
“Normally, I join the brothers on a long ride for Christmas Eve. But the weather out there is crap.”
My brows drew together. “It’s overcast.”
He shook his head. “When I followed you back here on my bike, it was misting. That shit’s awful. Not enough to need rain gear, but just enough to make you feel it. I’m not taking you out in that.”
I couldn’t stop the excitement from filling my eyes. “Could we do that tomorrow? Or do you have to work tonight?”
He moved closer to me, wrapping his arms around my waist. “I got four days off, too, Mick. You want a ride on my bike, we’ll do that tomorrow. But, I like your idea of a movie marathon. Get that chicken dip we bought, maybe the celery if you’re feeling healthy. I’ll open the tortilla chips, the bagel chips, and the pretzel rods. Put ‘em on the coffee table. We can call that lunch.”
I grinned. “That’s definitely a start. You want a beer, too?”
“Damn right. Are we watching Christmas movies or are you down for action flicks?”
I pressed my lips together. “Maybe one of each?”
“You got it,” he said.
Chapter 6
One-Way Ticket
Tundra
Somewhere, a one-way ticket to hell had my name stamped on it. I laid on the couch with this gorgeous woman sprawled on top of me, dead asleep, and I fucking loved it. But I shouldn’t love this. For fuck’s sake, she was practically half my age. I’d never been the guy who only wanted twenty-somethings.
Didn’t change the fact that once On a Lark opened, I couldn’t stay away.
If Gamble ever found out about this, he would beat me bloody, and I’d let him because I fucking deserved it. I couldn’t say I’d watched her grow up, but the Jacksonville brothers rode out to Biloxi at least five times a year. I’d played tag with the Biloxi brothers’ kids - her included.
Thinking on that, I recalled that she was always the first kid to greet me. Once she became a teenager, she wasn’t around the clubhouse because she was busy with school and whatever activities she had.
Not long after her brothers showed up to prospect, she’d approached the club with a proposal for a restaurant, bar, and grille. Lark suggested he’d take all three of them under his wing, which helped the vote go their way and I thought that was the shit.
In an almost perverse way, it was cool having adult conversations with someone who’d once asked me if the Tooth Fairy ever got tired of flying. She’d been so fuckin’ cute.
Yeah, I was going straight to hell.
Might as well enjoy the ride for as long as I could. The last twelve hours with her had been the hottest, and most mind-blowing sex of my life, so I had no doubt we’d enjoy the fuck out of each other.
Mickayla twitched in her sleep and sighed heavily. I looked down at her, her eyes were still closed. Her hips moved in a gentle rhythm that had blood rushing to my cock.
Was she having a sex dream on me?
Her butt rose higher, her eyes suddenly opened, and she gasped. “Hell.”
I put a hand on her ass. “Having a fun dream? If I wasn’t in it, don’t tell me.”
She glanced up at me. “You were in it, my man.”
I should stop her from calling me ‘her man’, but since I was a total bastard who enjoyed hearing it, I let it slide.
