“Honey,” Mickayla said in a low voice.
“She’s there,” Sarah said.
“She’s here. She isn’t spending a night away from me.”
“So soon?” Sarah asked, sounding surprised.
I shook my head at this pointless conversation. “I accept your apology. Do yourself a favor, find someone else.”
“Did you ever care about me?”
“Yeah. Once. But you don’t accept my way of life and I should have ended it much sooner. Mickayla accepts me - everything about me. Find yourself a man you actually care about and don’t try to change him.”
“Ron—”
“Bye, Sarah.”
I stabbed my finger at the phone screen to end the call.
“May I offer a piece of advice?” Mickayla asked.
After I put my phone on the charger, I joined her on the couch. “You can always offer, but don’t expect me to take it.”
She hummed for a beat. “I suppose that tracks, but don’t be so hard on the brothers who didn’t vote on your patch.”
I grabbed her hand and twined our fingers together. “Right. Three of them have already shown remorse.”
“Really?”
I nodded. “Cal, Nickel, and by way of Cal - Bluff.”
“Who does that leave?”
“Lunatic, but he probably choked, like Bluff. Razor. My guess is he would have abstained all around.” I shook my head. “That’s the thing. I don’t know for certain because of how Volt called for the vote.”
“Why do you think Razor would have abstained?”
It struck me that Mickayla probably didn’t know his history. “He was with another club and renounced them. Had his patch stripped before your time. Hell, it was a few months before I started prospecting. I’m not gonna bust his balls about it.”
“That makes sense,” she whispered.
“As for Liar, Beast, and Rage - I’m better off assuming they were just pissed.”
She gave my hand a squeeze. “Normally, I’d tell you to avoid assumptions, but I can’t fault your logic here.”
God, how I loved this woman.
“Good. Now, where do you want to live?” I asked.
Her head reared back. “You just moved in here. What are you talking about?”
I twisted my free hand up. “You get another location of On a Lark - where’s it gonna be? Do you want to be central to both or do you want to live out near the first location?”
Her eyes slid to the side and back to me. “I was actually thinking the town you took me to on Christmas day might be a perfect place for Lark Two.”
I mulled that over.
“Obviously, I have to do some research,” she added.
