“Okay then.” I grin and watch as Ander and Ryan continue to divide everyone into teams. Brandon is working with a young girl, showing her some stick handling. David and Cole are passing a puck back and forth with a small group of kids as well.

Eventually I make my way to one of the nets where I let the kids take some practice shots on me, most of which I let slide past me into the goal. That’s the unspoken assignment for today.

Well, that, and getting Ander back to the Bouchards’ house so I can kiss him thoroughly once we are alone again. These last eighteen hours have been a lot to take in. But the main point I’ve absorbed is that the days of Ander and I simply being friends are over. I don’t know if there is any way to go back. Not for me, at least. I’m completely taken by him.

“Don’t let my skill and good looks distract you today, Nikolai,” Ander says in a teasing way as he skates by me.

Too late.

He uses his stick to push all the extra pucks out of the way to where David and Cole are collecting them and placing them in a bucket.

“Distracted? By you?” I ask, staring right at him. His blue eyes are shining, reflecting more than the midday sun. I see happiness, contentment, and fondness in them as well. I hope that when he looks at me, he sees the same. I wink at him, then pull my goalie mask down to cover my face. “Never.”

“Alright, you two,” Ryan says, skating past. “Quit flirting. We have a game to play.”

Ander

And play we did. In the end, Nikolai and Ryan’s team beat mine and Brandon’s, twenty-three goals to twenty-one. It’s safe to say both Nikolai and I phoned that one in.

Worth it.

The smiles on all the kids’ faces. The way the outside ice felt under our blades. Playing hockey with some of the most important people in the world to me. It was nourishment for my soul after a season that so far has made me weary. The only thing that would have made today better is if Gavin, Connor, and Tavish could have been here. After all, they are my family as well. Maybe next year I can bring all of us together. There’s always room for more.

Well, not always. Not right now. Right now, there is only room for me and Nikolai. Literally. When did Brandon’s childhood bedroom get so comically small? Did my parents shrink it somehow?

It doesn’t matter though, because it makes it that much easier for Nikolai and I to be on top of each other while we’re in here.

Everyone else in the house is asleep, I think. Regardless, we are trying to keep it quiet as we fumble and grab each other on the bed while kissing.

The way his lips and tongue explore my mouth is unlike any other kiss I’ve ever experienced. Truth be told, I’ve never been a fan of kissing. But with Nikolai, I can’t seem to get enough. Thankfully he seems to be struggling with the same affliction. I wonder what else he can do with that mouth.

And more interestingly, I wonder what else I can do with mine. These are our final hours together with an unspoken agreement to enjoy what we have right now. Tomorrow, we both hit the road first thing in the morning.

But I don’t want to dwell on that. If I do, it’s only going to make me sad and ruin the mood. These past thirty-six hours have meant more to me than any game I’ve won this season. I dread having to leave it, but I also miss my team. I love hockey. I love being a Blizzard. But this season has been different.

All season long I have felt like I was missing something. Like a piece of me never made it to training camp. I think subconsciously I’ve known where it was. I’ve known what I’ve needed. And what I’ve needed is right here in my arms. Nikolai.

“Ander,” he moans as he slides his hand down my body. He dips his fingers under the waistband of my underwear and lifts himself so he can pull them down. He removes his next then lays himself down on top of me, bringing our hard cocks to slot against each other.

“Fuck,” I say, quietly into his ear as his hips thrust up, sliding his cock alongside mine. “Why is that so hot?”

“What is hot?” he asks, as he presses his lips on my pulse point. It sends shivers down my spine.

“This,” I say. “But more specifically, your dick rubbing on mine. Why is that so hot? And why have I never realized it before?”

He pauses his kissing, and lifts his head enough to look down at me. “Have you been secretly bringing our cocks together without me knowing?”

“No.” I laugh, scrunching my lips up in confusion. “That would be impossible.”

“Would explain why you never knew this was so hot.”

I lightly spank the side of his butt. “Smartass.”

“Yes. Very smart,” he says, then kisses me as he thrusts his hips again.

The slide of our erections together, even without anything to make that glide smoother and easier makes my spine tingle with pleasure. It’s just the right amount of friction and, dare I say, taboo, even though I know this isn’t forbidden. Not for me, at least. And clearly not for him either as he continues his slow thrusting.

I know this is new to me, but it’s not like he’s some gay sex aficionado. At least not by what he’s told me. But the way he moves. The attention he pays to me and how he seems to know exactly what to do and when to do it, I’d think he was an expert. I’m relieved he’s comfortable enough to take control in the way that he does.
