She’s not used to forced marriages and men stealing other men’s daughters to fulfil a contract. That’s what this is.
Tonight, my little wife thought she could outsmart me, but once again, she learned the hard way that I’m no fool. I’m one powerful motherfucker you don’t fuck with.
The fact that she actually believed I fell asleep with my loaded gun out for anyone to take is beyond me.
Sure, I accept that I could have been wrong and she could have blown my head right off my fucking body.
But she didn’t.
And now I have more of a hold on her.
I’ll admit it. I’m more than a little fascinated by her. I know that much.
So, as for the consequences of her actions…
Tonight was just the beginning.
I pull into the parking lot of the Devlins’ port hub and park my Bugatti. I’m meeting Kieran and the others here. Now that Cassian’s conducted a full review of the Devlins’ systems, it’s time to discuss our next moves in catching Moretti.
I’ve managed to push my thoughts of Gabrielle aside, so I can focus on this meeting.
Focus is key. Today may be the first step in making the progress I need.
I spot my brothers near the entrance. Opposite them is a group of armed guards, who straighten when they see me get out of my car.
I head over to my brothers, and the guards make the mistake of approaching me. The one in front, the one who looks like he’s in charge, points his gun at me.
“Weapons check,” he orders. “You must leave your weapons before entering.”
The fuck. Like hell I am.
I step forward and get up in his face. “Motherfucker, please try and take my weapons.”
He flinches, stepping backwards. “It’s procedure.”
“Yeah? Try taking my weapons, and I’ll slice you from eyeballs to ball sack.”
His eyes snap wide and his jaw hangs open.
“It’s okay. Let them in with their weapons,” a voice calls from the balcony above.
It’s Tiernan. He gazes down at us with an amused expression. I look up at him, and he dips his head before going back inside.
These fuckers don’t know who they’re messing with. But I’ll play. Whether I like it or not, we need each other.
The guards step aside, and my brothers and I walk into the building.
I glance from Aleksandr to Cassian. “Please fucking tell me you didn’t hand over your weapons.”
Aleksandr raises his brows and smirks. “Course not. We told them to fuck off, and we thought it would be more entertaining to wait for you to lose your shit.”
Cassian chuckles. “And you did.”
Damn right, I did.
Another guard meets us by the elevator bay and opens the door with a retinal scan.
Cassian smirks again. I catch the silent joke straightaway. Such high-tech security access, and our dear cousins are still getting their asses whipped.
