Kelsey bumped Carrie’s shoulder. “And here I thought you were hungover.”
Carrie snorted. “I wish.”
“Weren’t you at the clubhouse last night?” Kelsey asked, cocking her head to the side with a raised eyebrow.
Carrie nodded as she continued to set up her station. “I’m there more than my apartment,” she said with a laugh.
Her place was bigger, but somehow, Kid’s room at the clubhouse was much cozier. He did get one of those memory foam mattresses, so she slept better there. Plus, he continued to doodle and paint some murals on the walls of his room. Which took a lot of time. Going to her place would mean he’d never get his room done the way he wanted.
Though with the amount of detail he put into the drawings, she doubted he’d ever finish. Which, she had to admit, didn’t make her mad. She loved watching his creative process. He was beyond talented.
Being around him, seeing what he could do, had her craving a new tattoo—a purposeful one. A piece that wasn’t hiding a regret.
“Aw, look at you,” Kelsey cooed, interrupting Carrie’s thoughts.
“What?” she asked, shaking off the image of Kid in his boxer briefs, sketching on the wall beside his bed.
“Young love,” Kelsey teased.
Carrie glared playfully. “Look who’s talking. You two are practically married. Did he move in yet?”
Kelsey smirked. “He’s not on the lease, if that’s what you’re asking.”
“Will you be renewing it?”
“Are you?”
Carrie opened her mouth for a quick retort, but she had nothing. They hadn’t discussed it. Should they? They’d only been officially together three months, but he’d been staying at her apartment for nearly a year.
Did that count?
“Uh-oh,” Kelsey snickered. “Now you’re thinking about something. You okay?”
Carrie grinned. “Yeah. I just realized I don’t know when we got together. Is it the first time we banged or when he gave me the thing?”
“Nothing matters until he puts a ring on it,” their co-worker said as she passed them to go into the storage room.
Carrie and Kelsey bumped shoulders and giggled. Walking away from her, Kelsey returned to her station and pulled out her large purse. As she rifled through it, Carrie considered her situation.
There was a freedom in her relationship with Kid. All the societal rules she’d meticulously abided by with any other guy she’d dated had gone out the window. She’d stopped worrying about expectations and traditions. Instead, she focused on being in the moment with him. She’d never been happier.
“Hey, do you have a tampon? I seem to have forgotten to pack them this morning,” Kelsey asked.
“No.” Carrie shrugged. “Aunt Flo hasn’t visited me yet this month.”
“Odd,” Kelsey commented. “We’re usually pretty synced up. I must be early or something.”
Wait…
When was the last time she had her period? As Carrie turned her attention to her station, she did the math in her head.
Kid
Midweek church was boring as fuck. Kid had better shit he could be doing. Like Carrie. As Frog recited their finances and broadcasted the success they’d had with the Colombians thus far, Kid checked his phone.
This time yesterday, Carrie was seated upon his face, and Kid enjoyed a delicious meal as he ate her cunt for nearly an hour. His cock swelled as he recalled her sweetness on his tongue. She’d passed out early last night. Hopefully, he could fuck her into another coma tonight. He rather enjoyed their nightly banging routine.
“Thanks, Frog,” Kevlar said as he clapped the gavel down, interrupting Kid’s fantasizing about his old lady. “Anything else before we end this bullshit?”
