“You did something, Ky. This is typical Hale blackmail. He got me last week because I dipped early so I could kick it with a little shorty I met at Blood Lust.”
“So he’s hitting everybody up I see.”
“For sure, what you do?”
“I’m trying to head out for a minute if we’re slow.”
“This mean you found ol’ girl.”
I frowned and he added, “The one they were clowning you about from the club.”
“Damn, why y’all all in my business?” Tor hadn’t been on shift with us that day, so that meant someone was running their mouth. I didn’t care, these were my people. That was how shit went down with family.
“Yeah, I found her,” I confessed.
“She got you down like that. Breaking rules and shit. She must be about something.”
“She is.”
“I fuck with it. You gonna bring her around?”
I glared and he threw his hands up defensively. “Not like that, Ky, damn. I’m just saying, if she’s your family, she’s our family. We need to know who we’re stepping behind.”
I understood his reasoning but the possessiveness in me didn’t give a damn about the logic.
“When it’s time, I will.”
After our bond is secure.
Tor shook his head but didn’t bother to hide the smugness in his expression. “Ky done fucked around and fell. Ain’t this some shit.” He pushed away from the counter. “How long we got?” He pointed to the stove.
“Hour, max. I’m not doing too much.”
“Bet, hopefully things stay quiet so we actually get to eat when it’s done without having to reheat it after a call.”
“How about you shut the fuck up and don’t jinx it,” I said.
The minute one of us got too comfortable with a no call shift and brought it up, all hell broke loose. The last time it happened, we worked a warehouse fire that lasted damn near our entire shift.
Tor nodded. “You right, let me chill on that.”
He left and I got to work. By the time I was done, we still didn’t have any calls. It was just after seven and getting dark, so I told everybody I was heading to one of the private quarters to get some sleep. Those were typically used when one of us didn’t want to be bothered and needed sleep, versus wanting to be away from the guys on shift.
Everyone was off doing their thing, so I locked the door from the inside and jumped out the window feeling like a gotdamn kid sneaking out the house. This shit was wild but the amount of respect we had for Cap meant I was on some stealth type shit.
I was taking every second I could have with Uri, so I bypassed a vehicle, using my super speed. The minute I reached my front door, my dick grew incredibly hard when I picked up Uri’s scent blended with honey. I moved through the house, pausing at the bathroom door, taking in the sight of her submerged in my tub—head back, eyes closed, with a glass of wine pinched between her fingers.
“I could get used to this,” I said and Uri startled, releasing the glass which I caught before it reached the floor.
“Fuck, you scared the shit out of me.”
I smirked and placed the glass on the counter, moving to the edge of the tub, enjoying the view of her brown skin partially covered by water and suds.
“You should have known I was here,” I said, allowing the pad of my finger to move up her arm to the pulse of her neck.
Her lips curved and she turned her eyes on me. “I felt you but assumed it was because I was here at your house. I didn’t expect you to show up. You’re on shift.” She narrowed her eyes. “Aren’t you supposed to be protecting and serving?”
“I’m not a cop but I did protect earlier, so I guess it applies. I’m here to serve though.”
