Inch by slow inch, she drags me out along her tongue, those eyes glistening in the dark as they watch me. “You don’t enjoy that?”
My breathing is ragged and uneven when I say, “Fuck no. I mean, fuck yes. That’s … that was …” Okay, the minute amount of brainpower I have is gone. I can’t talk, but I can show, and I slide my hands under her armpits and scoop her up to a standing position. Then I kiss her—hard. I make quick work of our bottoms and plunk her bare ass on the edge of the mattress. I roll on a condom and, facing her, drive inside her in less than a minute from the time she was sucking me off.
Her legs wrap around my waist, and her ankles cross, her heels digging into my ass. We’re still fully clothed from the waist up—that’s how crazy this woman makes me.
“I want to come inside you,” I grunt. That’s my caveman way of explaining why I couldn’t take any more of her mouth on me.
We come at the same time, and it’s explosive and raw. I might have lasted all of three minutes.
Jackie Harper has twisted me into knots, and I’m not sure I’ll ever get myself unwound.
Chapter 29
Eye of the Storm
Jackie
Colby and I sleep very little. We snuggle naked beneath his sheets and doze, then come to and start up again as soon as he’s ready to go. And he’s ready to go a lot. Though I’m a little tender in spots, I’m not complaining. He claims this is new for him, that he’s never been quite this “motivated” before, and since I’m not sure what to do with that, I let the comment skip over me.
The way we make love changes, transforming from the frenzy of the first two times to something slower, more languid. We take our time exploring each other and finding hot buttons and happy places. I love the feel of his smooth, warm skin over the hard planes of his body beneath my fingertips. My tongue. My lips. More than that, though, I love how he holds me and makes me feel cherished and protected in his arms. I can’t recall ever feeling this way with Randy—with anyone—and maybe, just maybe, it’s time to yield some of the trust I’ve been hoarding.
Despite my desire to hold it back, dawn arrives and bathes the cabin in light. For the first time since last night, we’re not wrapped up in each other, our limbs aren’t tangled, and our bare skin isn’t pressed together. On my side, my head on a pillow with my hands tucked beneath, I watch Colby sleep. He’s on his back, and his face is turned toward me, one hand splayed across his chest while the other rests above his head. Every line and crease on his handsome face is smoothed out, and his long, dark lashes fan out across his tanned cheeks. The covers drape his belly button and everything south, and that smooth, sculpted chest I spent the night kissing, licking, and nipping rises and falls in long, even breaths. I indulged in some sucking while I was at it, and my handiwork shows above his right nipple—a bruise in the shape of my mouth. The mark matches two on his neck below his left ear. When he returns to the rink tomorrow, his teammates will tease him about having a good time during the team’s mini-break.
He might have left similar marks on me, but he was careful to place them where only we would see. Never mind the negative press Colby Chase garners on the daily. As a lover, the captain of the Gail is quintessentially considerate.
His lids flutter, and he cracks one eye open. The instant he sees me, he smiles. “Hey, beautiful.” He lifts his hand from his chest and strokes my hair.
“Hey.” I return the smile.
His hand drops from my head, and he snakes his arm under me and pulls me to him. “What are you doing way over there?”
A giggle escapes me. The bed is queen sized, and he’s a big body, so there’s not an “over there.” Nevertheless, I scoot over and let him draw me against his side, resting my head on his powerful shoulder.
He yawns and stretches his free arm above his head. “How did you sleep?”
“You mean, for the half hour you let me sleep?”
Turning his head, he peers down at me. “You had a lot to say last night, but I don’t recall any complaints.”
My cheeks heat as I remember how vocal I was. Colby has that effect on me. “Are you accusing me of being noisy?”
“I would never accuse you of something like that. I’m only saying I won’t be surprised if I get some winks and a few thumbs-up from my neighbors this morning.”
Now my cheeks are on fire, and I huff, “Pretty proud of yourself, aren’t you?”
He drops a kiss on my hair. “Maybe not ‘proud,’ but definitely pleased.” His voice loses its teasing quality and takes on a tender one. “I like making you feel good.”
Tipping my head back, I gaze at him. “Do I make you feel good?” I hate how insecure I sound.
His eyebrows lift. “Seriously?” Wrapping his fingers around my wrist, he guides my hand below the covers. His erection is thick, long, and hard as granite. “Thought it was obvious.”
“Oh!” I exclaim.
“Yeah, ‘oh’ is right.” Chuckling, he trails kisses from my temple to my jaw while his hand covers mine, and we stroke him together, slowly, from base to tip. “Every time I think about how fucking good my little first mate makes me feel,” he murmurs against my skin, “this is what happens. You drive me nuts, Jackie Harper.”
The endearments cause my heart to balloon. Knowing I have that effect on him adds to the feels, but it’s really hearing him call me his “little first mate” that pushes me over the edge—as though I might belong to him.
Thunder rumbles through his stomach, and we both laugh. I prop myself on my elbow, slip my hand from his, and skim it up his chest. “Someone needs to be fed.”
