Across the room, Tyler laughs at something Lucas says. Then, almost as if he can sense Viktor’s eyes on him, he turns.

Their gazes meet.

For one intense second, the air feels charged, something electric and wordless passing between them. Tyler’s expression hardens first, then he rolls his eyes and looks away, turning back to Lucas as though Viktor has not affected him at all.

Viktor watches him for another beat.

Then he takes a drink.

I grin.

“You are sick.”

“Probably.”

“Obsessive.”

“Definitely.”

“At least you are self-aware.”

“I have never denied it.”

That is true.

“You know,” I say casually, “I might know one of Tyler’s fantasies.”

Viktor turns toward me so quickly that I almost laugh.

“What?”

I swirl the wine in my glass, pretending to think about it. “I said I might.”

“What fantasy?”

“I am not telling you for free.”

His eyes narrow. “You are trying to extort me.”

“I am trying to make this mutually beneficial.”

He lets out a sigh, already regretting every decision that has brought him to this moment.

“What do you want?” he asks at last.

I let the question hang just long enough to irritate him, then I smile.

“A Bugatti Chiron.”

Viktor blinks once, then twice.

“You must be joking.”

I shrug. “Then you are missing out on something great.”

“You want a Bugatti for a rumor?”

“It is not a rumor.” I lower my voice conspiratorially. “It is intimate, highly valuable information about the person you have this unhinged obsession for.”
