Kim did.
The image softened.
“I’ve seen that symbol,” I whispered.
“Where?” Ben asked.
“I don’t know.”
I studied the blurred circle.
A gold shape crossed the center.
Not an anchor.
Not a compass.
A lighthouse.
“Ivy has a photograph of it.”
Everyone looked at me.
“When we were searching the old boathouse, she photographed a stack of shipping ledgers. One of the covers had that same symbol stamped into the leather.”
Agent Morales turned toward Kim.
“Do we have Miss Ivy Sinclair’s photographs?”
“Not in this evidence set.”
Morales picked up her phone.
“I’ll have an agent speak with her.”
Kim left the image on the screen.
I stared at the man’s height and the slope of his shoulders.
“Wait.”
“What?” Ben asked.
“He isn’t one of the men from Blackwater.”
“You can tell that from his back?”
“No. From his shoes.”
Morales glanced beneath the table as if she expected the answer to be there.
“What about them?”
“Everyone aboard Mariner’s Crown wore boots or deck shoes. Look at the previous pictures.”
Kim opened three earlier images.
Heavy boots.
