“We’ll leave you to get settled in and get the little guy into his new bed.” Tobias smiled down at Milo, who was asleep in my arms. He’d fallen asleep in the car, and I was so glad I actually had somewhere to lay him down.

“I appreciate it.” I smiled, and Emmett walked over, putting my bag near the bed.

“Of course. And if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. We want you to have everything at your fingertips.”

That was still a strange concept, but I agreed to let them know if I needed something, and they snuck out of the room while I put Milo down in his crib for the rest of his nap, making sure that I laid his little blanket over his legs so he’d have something familiar with him.

He was old enough to use the blanket now, and it’d become something of a security item.

After I placed Milo in the crib, I turned back to my bags. He was still taking two naps a day, so I had a little time to get unpacked. There wasn’t much to go through, of course, and my meager possessions felt wrong in such a beautiful place. It was clear a lot of time and effort had gone into decorating the space. Even a beautiful handmade quilt covered the bed.

The walk-in closet and dressing room were insanely large. I was dumbfounded that they had given me so much space. The bathroom was spacious, with a large counter, shower, and separate bathtub. I did a little happy dance at the sight of the massive claw-foot tub.

Milo and I were going to be taking some amazing baths there.

Once everything was pulled out and put away, I lay down on the bed, snuggling into a pillow as I let the exhaustion and relief take over. People always said to sleep when the baby slept, so I figured I’d actually give it a shot for once.

I woke up to the sound of Milo squeaking happily in his crib, and I got up with a grin, walking over and looking down at him as he played with his feet.

“Hi there, buddy. Did you have a good nap?”

I pulled him out of the crib, giving him a hug as I kissed the top of his head. “Oh, sir. You are so wet. I don’t think that diaper could get more full.”

He just giggled at me, which was better than screaming about being wet, so I snagged a diaper and the wipes from the bag that I hadn’t unpacked yet and walked them both over to the bed. Lying him down, I unzipped his onesie and began the process of cleaning him up. I wrapped the diaper super tight and set it to the side so that I could throw it away.

For as much as he didn’t really like getting his diaper changed, whining about being cold, he seemed even happier with it off. Milo flailed his little arms as I scooped him back up, and I set him inside the little baby pen. He immediately pulled himself up, bouncing as he hung on to the edge, and I snagged his favorite toy.

“Here you go, bud. I need to pee.”

I went into the large bathroom as he babbled endlessly, and when I came out, he stared up at me like it was about damn time.

“Ba, ba, ba, ba.”

Smiling, I leaned down and picked him up. I knew what that babble meant.

“You’re getting hungry, aren’t you?” I murmured, rocking him on my hip. His little face scrunched up as he wiggled in my arms.

I had several baby food pouches. Grabbing one from the bag, I headed downstairs to make a bottle, too, tiptoeing. If it hadn’t been for Milo, I probably would have stayed upstairs, hiding.

But as soon as I opened the door, Emmett was standing there, his fist raised like he was about to knock. He smiled, dropping his hand after waving at Milo.

“Hey, I was just coming to check in on you. Is the room okay?”

“More than okay! I wanted to use the microwave, if that’s okay?” I held up the bottle, which just needed water added and a quick ten seconds.

“Stop asking if it’s okay. Treat this place like your own, okay?” He shook his head, laughing quietly. “I could feel you stressing out up here. I promise it’s totally fine.”

My face flushed. “Sorry, I—”

“No apologies, remember?” Emmett smiled wider, and I rolled my eyes, chuckling low as Milo squirmed. “Now, do you like pasta?”

I nodded. “I do.”

“Perfect. Noah is cooking like four different kinds.”

Emmett led the way downstairs and into the kitchen. I was excitedly greeted by Noah, who was cooking up a storm, and he graciously gave me free rein of the sink and microwave so I could heat up a bottle for Milo while he slurped down the pouch. There was a high chair there for him already, and I slipped him inside, oddly emotional about seeing him sitting there in his new home, happy as a clam.

Still, he was getting food and milk, so what did he have to complain about, right? At least at the moment; those teeth would likely start causing problems again soon.
