Summer beamed back at us, Milo happily snoozing in her lap now. “That sounds perfect.”
“Great!” For the first time, Emma spoke up. We all followed suit, slowly getting up out of our seats.
“Are you a fan of burgers?” Tobias asked. “We love them.”
“I’ll admit I haven’t had one in a while, but I’m a fan.” Summer grinned, chewing on her lip.
I nodded, holding the door open for everyone. Summer’s sweet tea scent hit me anew when she passed, and I closed my eyes, soaking it in.
Perfection.
“Is this little guy eating any solids yet?” Noah asked as we made our way to the entrance of the building.
“He’s starting to munch on a few things, but it’s still mainly milk. I have his favorite cereal puffs in his diaper bag. He will probably demolish a few of those while we eat.”
“Why don’t I keep a hold of the little munchkin so you guys can really have an opportunity to get to know one another?” Emma asked, holding out her hands for Milo.
Summer’s reaction was instant; she stepped back, her hand coming up protectively over her baby. “I don’t think…”
Emma frowned. “You guys need a little time without distractions.”
What did Emma think we were going to do, go fuck like feral horny rabbits behind the restaurant? We just met.
Summer’s face paled, her arms tightening around Milo.
“The restaurant is child-friendly. We wouldn’t dream of asking her to leave Milo,” I countered, shaking my head.
Summer shot me a grateful smile.
It didn’t take a genius to see that she was uncomfortable with the idea of leaving her child with a practical stranger, and I totally understood. Plus, Milo was part of the deal. If we were going to do this, we needed to do it with him.
Emma looked startled. “But surely you all and Summer would appreciate a little alone time…” She trailed off suggestively.
“The baby comes with,” I said firmly, giving Emma a serious look.
Tobias reached for the diaper bag. “Here, let me take this,” he said, smiling, taking it gently off Summer’s shoulder.
Good. She didn’t need to be weighed down by extra items.
“Fine,” Emma sighed. “I’ll check in with you guys later. Tomorrow, if you all decide to go forward, we will sign the paperwork here.”
With that, Emma left us to enjoy our lunch, not bothering to look back.
Chapter 6
Summer
Idon’t know what I expected… but Pack Winters wasn’t it.
One look at them, and I was astounded. Why did they need a matchmaker? They were handsome, kind, and smelled heavenly. For a moment, when I walked into the room, I seriously thought I had stumbled through the wrong door.
Their scents all blended together, and for our first meeting, all I could think about was licking them. Highly uncivilized, I know.
The scent cards had been impressive, but in person, they were far more intense. I had jumped on the opportunity to go for lunch because that meant fresh air. The air in the small meeting room had become thick with their scents, and it was so damn alluring, it was getting hard to focus.
The restaurant was only a short walk away, so it hadn’t taken us long to get there. As soon as Emma was out of earshot, the tension eased considerably.
I liked Callie far more, and found myself sad that she hadn’t been able to come and facilitate our meeting.
