Her expression turned vindictive. “The Last Riders didn’t care when I left the club, but they’d care if Burn left, wouldn’t they?”
Wizard didn’t bother denying it. “You did nothing but create drama. No, I can’t say we missed having you in the club for even a second. You’re still creating drama to benefit yourself. If I thought I could ever look Burn’s son in the eye again, I would gladly make sure you could never hurt Burn again.”
“There’s a difference between creating drama and taking advantage of an opportunity when one becomes available.”
“Don’t act like you’re not the one who arranged for those girls to get into the bar and then miraculously had them pulled over.”
Taylor frowned at him. “You think I sent those girls to the club?”
Wizard studied her intently. He had always been able to see through Taylor’s lies. Either she had taken a master class in acting, or she was telling the truth.
“You didn’t?”
“No.”
Fuck.
“I admit I used the information and called my lawyer to change the custody arrangement, but if you’re looking for someone to blame, you should look somewhere else.” Taylor laughed at him. “Why would I pay someone to cause problems for The Last Riders when they’re so good at doing it themselves?”
Wizard moved around the counter to leave.
“That’s it? You’re just going to leave? The least you could do is apologize for breaking into my apartment.”
“Taylor, you should thank your lucky stars that I’m leaving while you’re still standing. If I find out you were behind those girls getting into the club, my next visit won’t be so cordial. I’ve had enough of your bullshit. Give Burn the custody arrangement he wants or, so help me God, I’ll make sure you’re blacklisted from the job you love so much.”
Wizard let his gaze travel contemptuously down her body. “If I were you, I’d stop filming yourself having sex with the married men you work with. It would be a shame if a few of those videos were leaked to your company’s headquarters, along with the blackmail threats you used to secure promotions you didn’t deserve.”
“You fucking bastard!” Taylor snatched a candle from the counter and hurled it at him.
Dodging it effortlessly, he gave her a cold glance. “Yes, I am,” he said, unfazed by the insult. “Remember that, and you might live to see Micah graduate from kindergarten.”
CHAPTER 39
THE NIGHT IS STILL YOUNG
Natalia nervously swirled the wine in her glass as she waited for her date to arrive. Her nerves had her reevaluating the wisdom of accepting a date with a doctor whose profile she had seen online. When she’d agreed to meet him, she hadn’t expected to become the most hated woman on the internet.
Feeling the table shift slightly, she looked up from her wineglass to see Wizard sliding into the chair across from her.
Her jaw dropped. Not only was he not the man she was supposed to meet, but he was dressed in a suit. It took her a moment to recognize him. He had even gotten a haircut. Anyone seeing him for the first time would never imagine he was the president of a motorcycle club.
Snapping her mouth shut, she glared at him. “What are you doing here?”
“I like the food. I saw you sitting alone and thought I’d keep you company. Eating by yourself is no fun.”
She stared at him suspiciously.
“You normally eat here?”
“Not normally, but I occasionally like to spoil myself.”
“And tonight just happens to be one of those nights?”
“I’m sitting here, aren’t I?” Giving her a smile, he turned when a waiter arrived.
“I’ll take a whiskey, neat,” he ordered before the waiter could speak.
Natalia stopped the waiter before he could leave. “I’m meeting someone,” she said, not bothering to be polite. “Can you find him another table?”
