“Yes, we are.” Turning, she twisted the handle and swept past Doom without a backward glance.

Both men watched her walk away.

“She doesn’t look too happy with you,” Doom observed dryly.

“That woman makes me hot as hell.”

Doom’s laughter echoed down the hallway.

Natalia glanced back to give them both a dirty look.

“Ouch!” Doom grinned. “I don’t think the feeling is mutual.”

“She wants me. She’s just fighting it.”

“Brother.” Doom gave him a disbelieving look. “That woman looks at you as if she’d rather walk into a nuclear blast than let you touch her.”

“That’s how I feel whenever I try to get with her,” Wizard admitted wryly.

“Then why try?”

“Brother, I’ve never been afraid of dying.” Wizard waited until Natalia disappeared from view before turning to Doom. “What was so important that you interrupted me?”

All humor left Doom’s expression. “We have a couple of cops outside who want to talk to you. Someone reported that we’re serving alcohol to minors.”

“They took longer to respond than I thought they would.”

Wizard started down the hallway, with Doom following him. His gut clenched with anger when he saw Natalia near the cops blocking the front door.

“Take her out through the kitchen,” he ordered Doom.

On the surface, none of the partygoers gave a fuck that cops were in their midst. Yet Wizard could tell they were aware of what was happening and waiting for his order.

With a flick of his hand, the brothers slowly moved into position to back him up if needed.

“Can I help you?” Wizard asked the older of the two officers, who looked as if he would rather be anywhere than searching a biker bar for minors.

Meeting his gaze, Wizard could tell the older cop was sharp enough to realize he was outnumbered with only a rookie by his side.

“We received a report that your bar is serving minors.”

Wizard didn’t attempt to bullshit him. His gaze dropped to the name tag pinned to the officer’s uniform. “Officer Day, we did have a few minors attempt to get served, but we quickly got their asses out of here. They were never given alcohol. I have it on video, so if anyone claims otherwise, I’m more than happy to prove they didn’t.”

Wizard didn’t miss the sidelong glance Officer Day gave the younger cop. He wasn’t surprised when the younger officer took over the conversation.

“We stopped two young women driving erratically two miles from here. When asked to take a breathalyzer test, the driver admitted to having several drinks here. She blew a one point two.”

“I don’t give a fuck if she blew two points.” Wizard’s voice was withering. “She didn’t get the alcohol here, Officer Caffee. If they tried to score here, what’s to say they didn’t try somewhere else?”

“Both women admitted to drinking here. Why would they lie?” Officer Caffee argued.

“I can think of several reasons,” Wizard replied calmly, refusing to let the younger officer provoke him. “All of them starting with a dollar sign.”

If he hadn’t been watching closely, Wizard would have missed the slight widening of Caffee’s eyes, revealing his surprise that Wizard had grasped what was happening so quickly.

The stupid fucker stepped closer, puffing out his chest in an attempt to intimidate him. “Are you saying the police department set you up?”

“Oh, no,” Wizard ground out mockingly. “I’d never accuse the police of doing something so shady. But do you mind telling me why you were patrolling this area at this time of night? The few times we’ve called, it’s taken you fuckers at least an hour to get your asses to respond.”
