Every Thursday night, The Last Riders held church, in which the brothers discussed club matters. During the meeting, a bag containing punishment slips was brought out. The slips listed chores no one else wanted to do. Any club member, male or female, who had earned a punishment during the week had to draw from the bag.

“I’m not pissed,” Wizard denied, switching to another screen. “No one deserves punishment badly enough this week for me to put it in the punishment bag.”

“Puck missed work for two days without calling in, Buck broke one of the construction workers’ jaws because he started drilling five minutes early, and Claw broke a laptop because the internet went down. All three of them deserve to make the trip to Treepoint more than Jesus does. He’s the best worker we have.”

“Yeah, he’s been a little too good. I know he’s up to something. He always is.”

“Like what?” Doom scoffed. “I haven’t seen him do anything shady.”

“I’m not saying he’s doing anything shady. Just that he’s not as great as everyone thinks he is.”

Doom sighed. “Are you punishing him because he wouldn’t let you borrow his suit again?”

“No.”

Doom shook his head. “I knew better than to tell you about Tink’s and Natalia’s list.”

Wizard took his eyes off the computer screen. “Doesn’t it bother you that they both chose Jesus if one of us dropped dead?”

“No. I don’t plan on dropping dead. Do you?” Doom joked.

“No, but there’s no guarantee I won’t. Hell, what if Jesus finds out our women want him? I wouldn’t put it past that fucker to off one of us or”—Wizard swallowed hard—“incapacitate our dicks.”

“As long as we don’t put our dicks near him, I think we’ll be safe.”

“Yeah, well, I’m not taking the chance. His ass can stay in Treepoint. I told Shade to keep him there.”

“For how long?”

Wizard shrugged. “Until Natalia takes him off her list or he drops dead. Whichever comes first.”

“I don’t understand. If Natalia had agreed to let any of the brothers join you in the bedroom, you would’ve chosen Jesus.”

“That was before I found out he’s considered God’s gift to women.”

“Neither Tink nor Natalia said that. You’re exaggerating.”

“I’ll remind you of that when your dick mysteriously quits working.”

“Brother.” Doom stared at him pityingly. “You’ve let Natalia get inside your head.”

“Maybe.” Wizard pretended to give in to his reasoning. Let the fucker find out the hard way. It was no skin off his back.

The chair next to him creaked as Doom shifted restlessly. “How much longer are we going to waste sitting here? We’ve gone back over a year. Any of the women on the list you’ve written down could be Stella. Do you want me to start checking them out?”

Taking a pen, Wizard started checking them off. “The first five, I remember. They’re glory hounds. They only came here to fuck then brag about it. None of the brothers touched them. They all left within a couple of hours.”

“The next two stayed the night, and if I remember right”—Wizard pointed at one woman on the list—“her name is Roxie. She came a few times then hooked up with Wolf and hasn’t been back.”

“I remember her. They’re still together.” Doom scratched Roxie off the list. “I got invited to their wedding next month.”

“Really?” Wizard looked up from the list in surprise. “They didn’t invite me.”

“Because you never go to weddings. You didn’t even come to mine.”

“That’s because you stole Tink from me.”

“How long are you going to hold that against me?”
