If anything, I have to block guys who DM me about threesomes with Aaron. That boy is mine and mine only.
Matt smirks. "I guess he needs all the practice he can get. For his horse riding skills to improve."
Aaron has been burning through his savings for the horse’s upkeep, since his parents did cut him off, so I try to support him however I can. But it is nice to see that he’s eager to pull his own weight. With his graduation around the corner, I’ve assured him he doesn’t need to look for a job until he’s ready, and while I know he wants his own money, I was glad to see how much relief that gave him.
I snort and shake my head at Matt. “I’m a dedicated riding teacher.”
Matt sniggers as we make our way through the living room. It used to be the only liveable space in the apartment, but now there's a newly refurbished bedroom, which Kai decorated with a mural as a moving gift to Aaron.
“Seriously though, I’m glad to see him so happy. He rants about his parents a lot but seems to be glad about his new plans for the future. Did he let you read his book yet? He claims it’s a masterpiece.”
I smile, because yes, I have read it, including all the chapters Aaron scrapped last week, after declaring them not good enough. I personally found them pretty arousing, especially the part where the main character gets bent over a massive chest freezer, but who am I to tell Aaron what to do with his own work?
“He’s amazingly talented. And the calligraphy? I really want to collaborate with him on a couple of tattoo designs,” I say as we approach the massive four-poster bed and lift the mattress to put it into the frame.
“That would be very cool. With your whole medieval style and his love of old-timey things. He looks pretty badass now with the ink you did for him. He’s making me want some too. I’ve been trying to talk Cass into a couple’s tattoo, but he’s been reluctant so far.”
I smirk. “Depending on what it is, maybe I could do you guys in my time off. As a thank you for helping with this move?” I say and stretch my aching body once the mattress falls into place. I’m over the moon that this is the end.
Matt snort-laughs and wags his finger at me. “You’re not doing Cass on my watch.” I forgot Matt has the sense of humor of a seventh grader.
“Only if I do you first,” I answer.
As he laughs even harder, I take in the new decor. I barely recognize my place after all the changes initiated by Aaron, but I admit that while my apartment used to offer me everything I needed, it was nowhere near as cozy or Aaron-friendly as it is now.
So maybe it cost a lot of money to get all the furniture and decor, but I knew it was all well-spent when I saw my boyfriend’s face brighten up as it all came together. Fortunately Aaron likes old shit we can get for cheap at vintage markets or at Goodwill if we look hard enough, so recently we’ve spent quite a lot of our time together searching for good finds.
Aaron has a better eye for decor, but as we went around browsing for furniture, he was eager to find things I would like, and that’s how we ended up with a tapestry that resembles a medieval depiction of hell. We also have a large carpet sprawling from under the bed, which looks like an ancient labyrinth.
On one of our trips I got him a black hat with a large brim that is now his new favorite accessory. Combined with his elegant, but somewhat grandpa-chic style, it makes him look like an old money witch boy.
And I love it. He is the hottest piece of ass I’ve ever laid my eyes on, and the kindest, sweetest partner I could dream of.
Despite so many worries, I am perfectly content. With everything.
I meet Matt’s gaze just as the door downstairs creaks, which means my boy is back in time to celebrate.
Matt goes serious and approaches me to whisper. “But just to be clear, if you break his heart, I’m coming for you.”
I squint at him. “Matt... I’d be a complete idiot if I did anything that could make him displeased with me. I think we’re good.”
Matt pats my shoulder. “Okay. ‘Cause I don’t want to use my shotgun if you knock him up.”
He leaves that hanging in the air to my utter confusion as Aaron climbs the stairs.
Aaron smiles at us, entering with the coffees. He’s so cute in that hat I could eat him up, and he’s got a cream-colored turtleneck sweater to go with it.
“You actually managed to get it up the stairs!” Aaron says, handing Matt his well-earned drink.
Matt grins and curls his bicep. “Duh. These guns aren’t just for show.”
“Look at us, your heroes,” I say and take the remaining two coffees out of Aaron’s hand. I scoop him close the moment they’re safe on the table.
Aaron hugs me, reminding me just how happy I am with the choice I made. I dread to think back to how stupid I was to even consider letting go of him.
Matt smiles. “I’ll be going to do my own bit of riding. You two enjoy your new old home. Thanks for the coffee!”
By the time Aaron turns with a frown, Matt is going down the stairs and can’t provide any answers, so he looks back to me. “You talked about horses? What? I’m confused.”
