We were civilians.

That meant we weren’t responsible for eliminating bad guys.

And damned if I didn’t really miss that part of my Delta duties.

Especially on nights like this, when I’d really like to obliterate the assholes who were responsible for trafficking innocent women.

I held up a fist for the team to stop behind some rare vegetation.

We needed to survey the situation for a minute before we acted.

The night vision goggles we were wearing helped to take in our surroundings.

All was quiet, and there were no lights on in the house.

The camouflage attire we were wearing would cloak our presence as we started to move soundlessly toward the house and Jenna’s prison.

I scanned the surrounding area briefly before my eyes focused on the large holding area.

I was restless as hell to get Jenna out of this place.

“Time to go,” I said impatiently as I raised three fingers for a countdown.

The team voiced their agreement, and I lowered my fingers one at a time until my hand was simply a fist.

I dropped my hand and started to move, making my way quickly and efficiently toward the large structure.

As with every other mission, I was hypervigilant, my head on a swivel until I reached the door of the holding facility.

The entry door was secured, but it was an antiquated lock that didn’t require more than a simple tool to unlock.

I swung my backpack into place again and put some weight against the door.

It gave way easily.

Nate stationed himself at the entrance to the door as I stepped inside.

“Fuck!” I cursed in a low voice as I took in the room. “This place is equipped to house a lot of victims.”

“How many?” Gage asked.

“At least a few dozen,” I informed him as I looked around. “This isn’t a small operation. A lot of victims have probably been trafficked through here. This place is probably the reason why more women are starting to disappear from Rosarito.”

“Son of a bitch!” Marshall said harshly.

Marshall had already informed us that there was only one person here right now, but I was willing to bet that the building’s empty state was unusual.

Bastards!

My eyes landed on what could only be a person at the back of the large space.

I was there in a heartbeat, crouching down to assess the naked female.

Fucking hell!

The woman was deathly still and…bloody.

I stripped off my gloves, shoved them into my pocket, and immediately felt for a pulse.
