Then there are her eyes.

Molten honey almost gold.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud.

I frown.

Where the hell have I seen those eyes before?

I’m still trying to place the strange familiarity when she opens her pretty-glossy mouth and immediately ruins the pretty.

She steps toward me, her chin tilted in quiet defiance, her expression as cold as the weather outside.

That sharp pang strikes beneath my ribs again.

Unwelcome and unnecessary.

I ignore it.

“Not only do you show up at my house two days early,” I say, slipping my hands into my pockets, “but you’ve got an attitude.”

“An attitude?”

“Yeah. That thing you’re doing with your mouth.”

Her lips part in disbelief. “I’m sorry. Would you prefer I smile?”

“Wouldn’t hurt, sweetheart.”

“Neither would basic hospitality, but here we are.” Her pretty eyes narrow. “And don’t call me sweetheart.”

I grin. “I’ll call you whatever the fuck I want in my home.”

She crosses her arms. “I see you’re acquainted with a dictionary.”

There’s the dig at my vocabulary.

I flash her a crooked smirk. “I sure fucking am, princess.”

She tilts her head. “Charming.”

“I’m not here to charm you, princess.”

Her gaze locks onto mine.

“Thank God.”

Shit.

This woman is going to be a pain in my ass.

Before I can come up with a suitably irritating response, Minho interrupts. “Everything is ready for you, Miss.”

I take a deep breath and look his way. “Thanks, man.”
