“No. The Hyena. Athena the Hyena.”
I scratch my temple. Am I supposed to be following this? “What?”
“Do you remember Sebastian’s girlfriend or whatever? Athena?”
I rack my brain but come up empty. “When was this?”
“Five years ago or more. Before you moved here, actually.”
Ah. Okay. I was with my ex then and was isolated from my family more than I realized. Through a lot of therapy, especially in the beginning, I discovered it was calculated on his part.
However, it still hurts to know I missed out on so much during that time. I know Sebastian dated, but to not even know the woman’s name? Was she important?
“She was an awful human being,” Calvin says, breaking up my thoughts.
“Yeah?” I tilt my lips up, begging for more information.
He briefly fills me in about the Hyena and her love for ruining people’s lives, mostly his teammates’, especially Sebastian’s. His words, not mine.
“And then we surprised her with poop,” he says, rounding out his story.
“Where did you get the poop from?”
“That’s your question?” He tilts his head as I scratch mine.
Is it my question?
“No? I have a lot of questions…” My voice drifts off.
“You can ask them all later. Right now, we have to come up with a plan.”
“For what?” I blink.
“The poop didn’t work. What should we do now?”
“Wasn’t that years ago? What did you expect—the poop to permanently hurt her?”
“She’s still messing with my people.” He crosses his arms over his chest. “She didn’t get the message.”
“Ah, so a plan,” I say knowingly, even though I’m still not sure. “To be mean.”
“Yes. To send a message. Any ideas?”
“I could trip her,” I suggest.
He rubs his palm over his face. “God, you’re worse than your brother.”
I tilt one eyebrow up, but he doesn’t expand.
“What else?”
“Spill a drink on her?” I clap in excitement, and Cal shakes his head. “Leave her number on the wall in the men’s bathroom, warning everyone how awful she is?”
He nods in agreement. “We should do something with her phone number.”
“I bet Jenny had to change her number after that song,” I chime in.
He rubs the top of his head. “Okay. I got it. An online ad with her number with something intriguing that she’ll have to change it.”
