I roll my eyes at one of our youngest teammates.
“I’m surprised to see Feet here,” I comment to Quinn.
“Meh.” He takes a sip of his drink. “Someone had to test out the toys to see if they work.”
“As long as he doesn’t break them before Charlie gets them,” I comment, since there are still two more days until Christmas.
“True.”
Chapter Forty-One
Scarlett
Iclose my eyes and hit send on my phone before I can talk myself out of it.
Me: What are your thoughts about the play calls on holidays?
Calvin: Hate when my football games are on them, typically
Calvin: Love when dates are on them, always
A silly grin appears on my face as I giggle into the phone. Who am I and why am I reverting to a sixteen-year-old girl?
Me: Do you have plans for December 31st?
Calvin: No
Calvin: Even if I did, I would cancel them
Me: Good thing you don’t
Me: I would hate that planning pressure, especially if you had really cool plans
Me: I was just going to invite you over to chill on my couch and watch the ball drop
Calvin: That’s the only thing I want to do
I pull the phone to my heart without thinking. How did I get so lucky?
Calvin: Question for the play caller?
Me: Yes?
Calvin: If someone bought a holiday gift for someone, can we bring it?
Me: You bought me a gift?
Calvin: Maybe
Me: I’ll allow it
I’m a little curious what the gift is. Now I need to figure out what I should get him.

“This is so good,” Calvin says as he takes another bite of his taco.
I kept it easy in the food department for tonight with a taco bar for two. I figured we could always grab leftovers if we get hungry later.
