“Cassian, stop calling me that.”

“Why? You know you wanna have my babies.”

“Boy, please. Ain’t nobody thinking about having no babies with you.”

“Not yet.”

“Cassian!”

He laughed. “What?”

“Bye, nigga.”

“Say you wanna have my babies first.”

“Okay, Cassian, I do no—”

Before I could finish, this nigga hung up in my damn face. I pulled the phone away from my ear and stared at the screen.

I knew damn well this nigga did not just hang up on me.

I shook my head, stuffing my phone into my purse. Cassian was a whole damn fool, and the fact that he could have me laughing this early in the morning was starting to become a problem. I wasn’t about to sit here and act like I didn’t enjoy talking to him, but I also wasn’t about to let one good night make me forget everything we’d been through.

I grabbed my things and got out of the car, thanking Banks before heading inside. As soon as I walked through the door, I spotted Courtney’s ass.

Lord, please don’t let this nigga start with me today.

I already had enough going on in my head, and the last thing I felt like dealing with was Courtney and whatever bullshit he had going on. All I wanted to do was get through my patients, finish my shift, and go the fuck home.

After I got off the phone with Kaylen, I took my shower and got dressed. I damn sure wasn’t expecting what happened between us last night. All I was trying to do was take her out, show her a good time, and get her out of the house for a little while. Somehow, that shit ended with us fucking on the couch.

Not that I was complaining, because I enjoyed every damn minute of it. I just wasn’t expecting things to go that far. Especially with how Kaylen had been acting toward me since she got here. One minute, she was talking shit to me, and the next, she was kissing me. I wasn’t mad at it, though. I liked that she was starting to get comfortable around me, even if she still had her guard up.

Once I finished getting dressed, I grabbed my things and headed out. I stopped by Big Al’s Breakfast House, one of my regular spots, and ordered something to eat before making my way to the office.

When I pulled into the parking lot, I spotted Kendric’s car already sitting outside. I grabbed my food and headed inside, where I found his ass working with a few of the new recruits. He had them lined up, going over some of the procedures they needed to know before we started sending them out on assignments.

I nodded at him as I passed through, then made my way to my office. After closing the door, I sat down at my desk, logged into my computer, and started going through emails. I wanted to see if we had any upcoming events that needed additional security or any new contracts that required attention. Everything looked good for the time being, so I opened my breakfast.

I’d ordered their smoked brisket breakfast sandwich, which came with scrambled eggs, melted pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, and their house sauce on toasted Texas bread. I also had a side of seasoned breakfast potatoes.

Just opening the wrapper had my mouth watering. That bitch was always gooder than a hoe.

I didn’t give a damn how many times I ate there, Big Al’s never disappointed. That was one thing I could say about them. They knew what the fuck they were doing when it came to breakfast.

I said my grace and started eating. I was halfway through my sandwich when somebody knocked on my office door.

“Come in.”

Kendric walked inside, shaking his head as he took a seat across from me.

“Yo’ nigga. Good morning to you too.”

I looked up from my food. “What’s good, bruh?”

“Shit. I’m trying to find out what’s good with you. You came in this bitch smiling and ain’t even speak.”

“Man, I nodded at yo’ ass when I walked past you.”
