After a few more minutes, I sat up and turned toward him.
“Cassian?”
“Yeah, ma?”
“Thank you for tonight.”
He looked over at me. “You ain't gotta keep thanking me.”
“I know, but I wanted to.”
He smiled a little. “You welcome, baby.”
I should've corrected him for calling me that again, but this time I didn't. Instead, I found myself looking at him a little longer than I meant to.
“What?” he asked.
I shook my head. “Nothing.”
He didn't say anything else, just watched me as I moved a little closer.
I wasn't sure what made me do it, but I leaned in and pressed my lips against his.
Cassian kissed me back, his hand settling against my waist as I moved closer to him. When I pulled away, he looked at me for a moment.
“You sure about this, Kaylen?”
I knew what he was asking, and I appreciated that he wasn't trying to make the decision for me.
“Yeah,” I answered.
He brushed his thumb against my waist. “You ain't gotta do nothing you don't wanna do. You know that, right?”
“I know, Cassian.”
He nodded, giving me a moment to decide whether I wanted to move away. But I didn't instead, I leaned in and kissed him again.
Cassian picked me up and sat me on his lap without breaking our kiss. I wrapped my arms around his neck, getting comfortable as he held me against him. I didn't know what the hell had gotten into me tonight, but I wasn't about to sit here and act like I didn't want to kiss him.
After a while, he pulled back and looked at me.
“You good, ma?”
“Yeah, I'm good.”
“You sure?”
“Cassian, I said I'm good.” I laughed. “Why you keep asking me that?”
“Because I'm making sure. That's a problem?”
“No, it's not a problem.”
“Aight, then.”
He smiled before kissing me again. I couldn't even remember what movie we'd been watching, and at this point, I didn't care. I was too busy enjoying myself.
When we finally pulled apart, he stood up and took his shirt off. I looked him over, taking in his tattoos, his chest, and those damn arms. I'd already known Cassian had a nice body, but seeing him standing in front of me without his shirt was something else.
