I immediately started walking faster like my little ass was really about to outrun this nigga or his damn truck.
I barely made it a few more steps before I heard his door slam.
“Shakaylen!”
I kept moving. Fuck that. I wasn’t stopping.
Heavy footsteps came up behind me, and before I could even turn around, Cassian scooped my ass clean off the ground.
“Cassian! Put me the fuck down!”
He didn’t say shit.
He carried me straight back to his truck, put me inside, and closed the door before walking around to the driver’s side.
The second he got behind the wheel, I could feel the attitude coming off his ass.
“Yo, what the fuck did I tell you?” he asked, cutting his eyes at me as he pulled away.
“I don’t know.” I shrugged. “What did you tell me?”
His jaw tightened.
I knew damn well I was getting on his nerves, but I didn’t give a fuck. I was already pissed that he had found me.
Cassian bit down on his bottom lip, shook his head, and turned his attention back to the road.
He didn’t say another word the whole ride.
When we pulled up to the house, he parked, got out, and slammed his door.
I watched his big ass come around the front of the truck, and before I could even think about opening my own door, he snatched it open.
“Come on.”
“Ouch!” I stumbled out when he grabbed me. “Why the hell you gotta be so fucking rough?”
“Because yo’ ass don’t fucking listen.” His eyes dropped to mine. “I told you not to run off, and what the fuck you do?”
I sucked my teeth.
“Exactly.”
He pulled me toward the house.
“So now, since you don’t know how to listen, I gotta show you better than I can tell you.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
He didn’t answer.
That should’ve been my first damn clue.
Once we got inside, instead of taking me upstairs, Cassian led me downstairs to another part of the house I hadn’t seen before.
“Where the hell are we going?”
Still nothing.
