“Of course, but right now you know all my sperm needs to be saved for the son I’m trying to make. I can’t be wasting it on-.”

“On me, your wife?” I cut him off, smacking my lips and sitting up on side of the bed.

“Kharti, cut that attitude shit out, alright? You already know what it is.”

“Yeah, I do, which is why I don’t understand why I can’t have my man’s nut in my mouth when I want it. You did what you needed to do in Toya the other night. The seed is planted already.”

“Yeah, so we hope.”

He pulled the cover off himself and kicked his legs over to the opposite side of the bed.

Caine went into the restroom, and I heard water from the sink running before I heard his water flosser and then him gargling. I rolled over on my side and grabbed my phone, seeing that I had two missed calls from Toya. It was too soon for her to give me an update on those tests, so I'll call her back later. I honestly wasn’t in the mood for small talk.

When Caine came back out of the restroom, he went straight to the closet and came out in a pair of black jeans and a black and tan Amiri shirt.

“I’m about to go check on Pops. Grandma told me last night that he wasn't feeling well.”

“Oh, I'll come with you.”

“Nah, you shouldn't. I have other shit to take care of, and I don't want to hear you complaining about being out all day. I’ll see you later on and don’t forget to go to the store today and restock the bathroom. I’m running out of that Dr. Thera Breath shit.”

“Whatever, Caine.”

I waved him off, and he disappeared through our bedroom door before I heard the front door close and his car engine start. After walking over to the window and watching him back out, I went into the restroom to do my morning routine.

Once I was done, I walked out just as my phone started ringing on the nightstand.

“As if I’m not already irritated with my morning.”

I said out loud, hitting accept on Dragon's call.

“What is it, Dragon? It’s 9:30 in the morning.”

“Good morning to you too, Butterfly. I’m outside your house. Come out and see me real quick.”

I pulled the phone away from my ear and stared at it like that was supposed to make his words make sense. Dragon had been popping up on me a lot lately, but he never crossed the line to come to me and Caine’s house. I mean, had he lost his entire mind? He knew if Caine saw him here, that would be a big fuckin problem.

“What the hell are you doing at my house, Dragon? Do you not care about keeping this shit under wraps?”

“Of course I do. But at least I’m outside. Coming up on the porch and knocking on the door would’ve been out of line, now, am I right?”

I rolled my eyes.

“Whatever you say, Dragon, whatever you say.”

I replied.

I walked over to the window and carefully pulled the curtain back just enough to look outside.

Sure enough, his car was sitting about fifteen yards down the street, parked on the side of the road. I scanned up and down the street, checking the sidewalks, driveways, and front porches for any neighbors standing out this time of morning.

“What you waiting on, Butterfly? You not the only thing I have to do today. I know I don’t own any chicken shacks or shit like that, but I do own businesses, you know.

“Dragon, I am coming. Hold on. I have to finish getting dressed.” I looked out the window once more to make sure the coast was clear.

I hung up the phone and then put on a pair of blue jean shorts and a black cropped top before sprinting out the door so I could get this nigga gone.

Of course, when I opened the car door, smoke escaped out before I could stick a foot inside.
